Hernia Support Group
There are several kinds of hernias, but the all happen when pressure pushes an organ (often the intestine) through a weak spot in a muscle face or wall. Treatment for hernias can be no treatment, to medicines to surgery. Modern surgical methods to treat hernias are much improved over older techniques and recovery times are much shorter.
I can say that I know exactly what you are describing as mine happens when I take a laxative that causes nausea. I cannot regurgitate anything but a small amount of gall and lots of foamy substance. And the pain to the diaphragm is excruciating. I just have had to allow it to take its' course by doing things to help relieve the felling of nausea.
I do gargle with just water to take the acidic taste out of the mouth, fold and lay a cold wash cloth across the throat and try to fight off the need to throw up and then I hit the bed and try not to think about it or move and fall off to sleep This usually works for me after a few tries and that is all about all I can offer.
You realize there is a lot of self help in this answer. LOL I learned this from being a military wife that spent a lot of time with just the kids.
It is hard to connect the dots on all of this because, the hernia slides in and out of the opening in the diaphragm and the diaphragm is very instrumental in my breathing because of very severe emphysema.
I have learned lately to keep sugar free non- mint gum handy as it promotes saliva and as you swallow this washes the acid reflux back out of the esophagus into the stomach where hopefully the stomach good acid will kick in and level off the need for the reflux.
Hope you find your groove in this because it is really difficult to get the doctors to understand and besides holistic methods are best unless you just need medical intervention again.
Wish you lots of patience and luck.
