Hernia Support Group
There are several kinds of hernias, but the all happen when pressure pushes an organ (often the intestine) through a weak spot in a muscle face or wall. Treatment for hernias can be no treatment, to medicines to surgery. Modern surgical methods to treat hernias are much improved over older techniques and recovery times are much shorter.

For 2 years I suffered with a HH. I also had severe pain and gas every time I consumed anything. Toward the day I was hospitalized I had an endoscopy and was scheduled for a colonoscopy to explore what was causing such pain when I ate. I practically had to force myself to throw up to make the gas subside, so I finally made an appoint!went with a gastroenterologist who turned out to be a real d@#k. When I told him my symptoms all he would do was say uh hum, uh hum.. I don't think he took me seriously. After my endoscopy he told me I had a HH. I asked him how I should take care of it and I swear all he said was I would figure it out. He completely dismissed me. That afternoon I ate a light lunch and the pain started up again. As soon as the food hit my stomach. By the weekend I was doubled over at work and I went home after my shift and laid on my stomach. I could only drink something, by that night up was in horrible pain and throwing up everything. All night I threw up within an hour of drinking something. My husband took me to the Er. They said it was the hernia. And educated me on how to take care of it. I went home and stayed out of work.. I was sick and in pain all day. The next day I went to that idiot doctor. I told him I was throwing up everything and he gave me a prescription for fenegram by mouth.. I reminded him I will be throwing it up so he gave me repositories and ordered an mri which h wasn't for 3 days. The nurse asked for a urine sample and it was Brown then sent me home. The next morning I was very confused and my husband took me to the er once again .. this time the CT scan showed my stomach was full and they put a tube through my nose into my stomach and drained one and a half canisters of fluid. I wasn't digesting anything and it was causing horrible pain. It took a week and my gastroenterologist couldn't even figure it out. They did the oatmeal test, where I laid still for 2 hrs so they could track it and it stayed in my stomach and they had to put that awful tube back up my nose and in to my stomach to pump it. I lost almost 20 lbs from the day I saw that doctor to the day I was admitted.. less than a month. I survived on ice chips and saline for a week until they brought a surgeon in and he saw where my stomach h had bloated and folded over on itself. They performed surgery and sewed my stomach to the inner Mus les. They inserted a feeding tube to hold it in place for 3 weeks. That was fun.. my husband had a heart attack 2 days before I left the hospital. I developed pneumonia because I couldn't cough for having 25 staples down my torso. He had a stent And was fine so he nursed me and cleaned the area around my feeding tube. I returned to work 7 weeks from the day I was admitted which was too soon because I now have a hernia that's choking my large intestine. I have changed gastroenterologistss And I was admitted again for diverticulitis. He said it's in my sigmoid colon and if I have another infection he will remove the bad part so I don't have to suffer anymore.. I had almost called him when I was searching b for a dr but chose the one with the less than great bed side manners. Since my surgery, I also had the HH repaired at the same time I've not had any problems. My other hernia does bulge and pushes on my bladder at night..lol. They never told me what caused my stomach to fold over, I'm assuming excessive gas and bloating may have caused it..But they said it's very rare for this to occur in a human.. it's BLOAT in big chested dogs.. lol
