Hernia Support Group
There are several kinds of hernias, but the all happen when pressure pushes an organ (often the intestine) through a weak spot in a muscle face or wall. Treatment for hernias can be no treatment, to medicines to surgery. Modern surgical methods to treat hernias are much improved over older techniques and recovery times are much shorter.
Yes, I get both fatigue and breathless at times with my hernia, especially when the reflux is really bad. I found that drinking water can help.
It can cause a lot of anxiety to feel this way, so I've been really trying to focus on staying calm during those times of being breathless and having pain. Sometimes just changing my position of sitting a certain way can help make it easier to breathe. Lately, I've been drinking an aloe drink I got at the supermarket. I drink this once a day (just a small amount) and it has helped keep the "fire" feeling down in my throat and esophagus. I've also had to adjust my diet a bit and get off of the soda and tea I was drinking. Plus, I love chocolate, but I've had to lessen that as well. There are things that can make the reflux worse, so it's best to either stay away from those foods, or at least limit them.
I hope some of those tips help. It can be frustrating trying to find the right things that help ease these feelings, but keep trying different things and you'll find something that will make you feel better.
