There are several kinds of hernias, but the all happen when pressure pushes an organ (often the intestine) through a weak spot in a muscle face or wall. Treatment for hernias can be no treatment, to medicines to surgery. Modern surgical methods to treat hernias are much improved over older techniques and recovery times are much shorter.
I'm hoping this doesn't sound dumb. 5 years ago I had surgery on an abdominal hernia. 2 years ago I had surgery on the same spot. Now sometime this year I'll need surgery again, same spot. Here lately I've had serious gas problems, to the point where there's intense pain. And I've noticed what seems to be bloating in my belly. I'm just wondering if there's a connection between the gas and the hernia. Thanks.
A long time has passed since you posted this, but I had the same situation with my hernia. My inguenal hernia was repaired but about a couple years after my surgery I started to get intense pain that felt like bad gas pains on that area. Long story short after dr. Appts and tests, nothing showed up. Well then I just accepted this is just scar tissue cause it the pain and I have to live with it. Until one evening I started to have so much pain I asked my husband to take me to emergency. Turns out the mesh in this hernia tore and my intestines were entrapped in the tear. I then had emergency surgery and now it is fixed.
I didnt mention that along with this hernia, I also had two more hernias repaired all three at the same time. A year later, the hernia mesh tore on the other side of my abdominal. Just had that repaired 5 days ago. Okay so I have now had two of the three hernias repaired. Hopefully the third hernia repair does not give out too, please no! Anyway just wanted to share my experience with you. Hope everything is fine with you now
