Treatment for hernias can be no treatment, to medicines to surgery. Modern surgical methods to treat hernias are much improved over older techniques and recovery times are much shorter.

Im in awful pain and I wonder what symptoms others get. I get a burning pain all the time and sometimes it feels as if something is stuck at the bottom of my oesophagus. I have reflux sometimes but the pain is worse. Do the symptoms ever improve? Whats the best combination of medicines or remedies you take? Im on Protonix and Gaviscon mostly which does very little. I have tried Ranitidine but tend to react to it,I was sick last time I took it. The pain is back in full force. Please tell me how you are coping anyone out there as Im not. I have gastritis and a hiatus hernia and GERD.

Nexium never worked for me. but Aciphex worked great for me for years then my gastro changed me to Pantaprazole after my last endo.
Also omerprozole never worked but pharmacist said to try zegrid because the little bit of baking soda with the omerprozole seems to work better for some

Does Pantoprazole work for you? I was told to take two a day by the gastro but the doctor just said to take one. It doesn't seem to work. Im fed up of meds and Im getting reflux again. The pain is worse so I had some Aloe vera. Im not sure what will help now. Does yours get very painful? My mother in law doesnt get pain with her hiatus hernia just reflux sometimes.

I have Barrett's disease, a hiatal hernia, and stomach pain. I'm suppose to be on a strict diet but I falter a lot of the time. I slip by drinking coffee and diet soda. I am going to do my best to stop both of them.
Are you on any type of special diet to keep your symptoms at bay? it's not easy, that much I know. This is a very difficult disease to have. I hope you find the right combination to help you.

Hi well Im in absolute agony today after being fine yesterday. I slipped up and had some coffee. I won,t again. I really need to find some meds that work too. Ive tried Ranitidine tonight so I hope it works.

My mirical drug was dexilant. I went for 23/7 reflux to almost none.

Hi well my pain has continued but I have the odd day when it isn,t too bad. The reflux has calmed down a bit though I still get a bit coming up sometimes at night. I think its mostly the gastritis. Im taking two Pantoprazole a day now to see if that will do any good. I don,t like cutting the acid as I have read that it is not good for you. I have read that having low acid can cause heartburn and the PPIs can cause side effects such as osteoporosis. Is anyone else scared of this? Oh for a normal stomach once more.
