I remember it was September a warm day when I got the news that my high school sweetheart had overdosed.. I was beside myself I kept calling his phone thinking this isn’t true he’s going to answer the phone. But it was true it was so real and it hit me immediately after I called about 20 times. He was in a sober house told me he was doing good and I believed him I truly had no idea he was doing heroin I thought he was using prescription pain killers but it was Soo much more than that. I cried for days weeks months years I never got to say goodbye to him we were talking the night he overdosed I kept re playing the life we had built together over and over in my head and I think that’s what hurt the most the memories the good times but what hurt even more was the bad times I didn’t want him to remember me for the fights the drama or any of that. I wanted to forever be his highschool sweetheart and now I know that’s how ( I hope) he remembers me  the pain of a loss fades the memories are forever and the pictures are engraved in my memory for a lifetime. God welcomed him home to his beautiful garden and a part of me went with him the day god called him home rest in the sweetest peace baby boy.
