The best pharmaceutical known to abruptly stop opiate addiction is stupidly illegal here in the States but no where else in the world. Ibogaine is the best solution known. Also, suboxone only goes so far. Reckitt Benckiser is making a disgusting profit for charging so much money for a drug that was made for pennies back in the day as a pain-killer. Suboxone is just buprenorphine combined with naloxone. You could ask the prescriber to write just a bupe script. There are generic bupe out there. Much cheaper.

Does he quailify for state insurance?
If not, has he considered other options, such as rehab? Of course thats much more expensive but perhaps a family member could charge it. Unfortunatly thats what we had to do, but regardless of the cost his life came first.

Hi Kelly there is a link that you can find all the subox doc's near you within so many miles and all of them dont bang you over the head I used to pay 250 dollars plus the copay for the rx, but now I get assistance thru welfare and its covered, at least the office visit is like only 10 bucks and the scrpit of 3 dollars. It's criminal! I've gone into huge debt to pay the ridiculous cost for my son. Then he abused it. Still, great drug that can really help. The pharm co's are making a fortune. Similar problem with other prescription meds. You take two cheap ingredients and put them together and charge an arm & a leg. Less expensive to have him detox and then use naloxone.

if you could get any opiad pills like vocodine theres around 10 of them, he could take them to stop his withdrawl and just ween his self off of those. its very easy that way.

Is your son using Heroin alone? or is he also on methadone or any other drug? I ask this because from my personal experience and many other people i've known, detoxing from heroin alone is the easiest/cheapest method compared to the alternatives. If your son were to get treatment using methadone, even though it may be cheaper, the detox and withdrawals symptoms are 10X worse than heroin withdrawal symptoms. This is a fact. There is no real easy way out of heroin addiction. My suggestion would be to taper off his usage weekly or even daily to the point where very little heroin is needed to fix him, then completely stop using. The lower the tolerance he's at, the easier the detoxing and recovery will be. Again, if he's just on heroin, he can start tapering off as soon as possible. I don't know what amount your son is using but for example, if he's using a 1/4 gram a day to get by, try to use half or 3/4 of that amount the next day but the trick is to spread out the usage throughout the day. I guess it may be harder if your son uses needles but if he smokes heroin like myself, it would be really easy to ration the doses out and taper off each day. Also, only let him 'fix' when he looks like he's showing withdrawal symptoms, very important to remember this. If he uses when he doesn't physically need to, that's just maintaining his tolerance, or maybe worse, increasing it. If I knew any of this information when I was younger and trying to quit, I know without a doubt my recovery from heroin addiction would have been a lot easier compared to what I have been through and what I am currently struggling with. I just hope others will learn from my experiences and/or make use of them.

Actually you may copntavct he local Health SDept I know in most cities i have been i nthere is usually a drug treatment through a local Health Dept All he needs to do is prove hi income and they will use a Sliding scale fee process This will end up possibly costing depending on what if any income he has anywhere from
no fee at all to a minor one.
If you want to PM me i can give you a hand locating a sliding fee program in yoru area.
Sometimes in bigger cities there will be a hospital or two that runs one that does it by fee Some will have research programs hat medicate and then require you to answer questions that ws how I got my first rehab allowing them to ask me questions about how I felt and stuff.
I know it is sad thatthere are so few places that will in fact work with people with limited to no income and no insurance

In all honesty he may be elgible for a program offerd by the state that covers folks Not covered by medical assistance but is similar to medical assistance. In MD it is called PAC Primary Adult Care this is the program offered to cover people that are Not on medical assistance.
