Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Most Excellent.
I was happy they mentioned insulin resistance (IR) as a factor in speeding up liver scarring. Sugar can and often does contribute to IR and many people with IR are unaware of it. IR has been proven to decrease your chances of SVR on tx.
I would urge everyone to limit sugar and HFCS regardless of some recommendations I see repeatedly on ds. DO your research, ask your doctor, research nutrition. A diet high in sugars will cause inflammation and lessen your chances for a virus free life.
