Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Just finished 8 weeks of Harvoni. Was undetected after one week (have had HCV for 45 years). Of course, future labs will hopefully confirm SVR.
While on Harvoni, was having acid reflux and asthma issues and was determined not to take any meds. Found a blog online (jdmoyer.com) and this guy stressed the importance of avoiding wheat. I cut out wheat, most sweets, (was never much for processed foods anyway) and read "Wheat Belly". Not only did I feel wonderful after 4 days, I dropped 10 pounds pretty quick. Five would have been great, but ten is okay too. I hope to always be wheat free---not a diet, a lifestyle. Check it out! Since on Harvoni for 16 weeks now I have not had any issue such as what you mention. Just slight headache once in awhile. I refuse,to take any meds for anything other than Hep C. after five tries at tx since 1991 I hope it's the last meds I'll ever have to take.
Not sure how long I've had it but I suspect that it could be for many years before first being diagnosed in 1991. I to am in my early sixties and hope to be around for many more although it's kind of unpredictable since I have been cirrhosis for a long time.
