Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

I tell you my heart is swelling with happiness and pride, for all of us who have maintained and fought so hard to keep our sanity, and what lil health we had left to get here.. Proud of you all, Warriors that you really are....Soldiers who have finally won the war... a lot of us have crossed, are crossing, or will be going over the finish line from zombies back to the living... Hope to be there soon...must attend to some health issues then my doc will put in the scripts for me... Luv you guys, my heroes, you who have fought so hard and never given up....and for those who had to leave us, thank you for guiding us for your support, advice and most importantly your Understanding xoxoxo

Yes. Seems like everybody is treating or about to soon. Very damn co if you ask me. Let's obliterate this effing virus once and for all. Eradication is its destiny.
Those of us getting the new meds or waiting for them are grateful and hold in high respect the "old timers" who suffered through long and ARDUOUS treatments, many over and over....
we owe so much to those who went before us and suffered through InterFEARon and other horrible drugs and severe side effects.
Every day I am grateful and cannot believe my good luck that I was interferon ineligible and thus not a part of the days of "pain and suffering" in the hopes of slaying the dragon.
HCV is on it's way to being a CURABLE virus! How amazing is that?!
I have to honor those before us as well because one of the very unlucky few that were the first to do straight interferon was my mother. It's been 20 years now and she still swears that she will NEVER do that to her family again (taking interferon) - it caused her to be an emotional wreck, feel cold all the time in the middle of summer even though 5 blankets were on her, sleep most of the day away, have sheer exhaustion, etc. Because of that drug, she is still apprehensive and weary of any of the new ones period. I can't blame her there, but she will have to do something if she wants to stick around for awhile.
Here's to the past, present, and future Heroes, Challengers, and Vanquishers (H.C.V.) of this disease. A disease which will end up in history books only for others to merely read about, but everyone who has every carried it will live on in our hearts.
