Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I've been on this group for less than a month. I'm not on any sort of treatment yet as some of you know from my posts. I was so relieved to find this group. I thought it would give me a sense of hope. Brothers in arms, as one member wrote.
There seems to always be that one person in a group that is a center of pestilance, that has an agenda they wish to subject the entire group to. This is sad, it happens on all kinds of groups.
I am very upset that someone chose to leave the group as a result of someone's well thought out post that had absolutely nothing to do with what the group was set up for.
I mentioned (in a post) that I was a cosmetology instructor at one time and that I told my students not to discuss sex, politics or religion with their clients. In my oppinion it doesn't belong here on a support group either.
What a huge can of worms was opened. I could choose not to reply, I could choose to stay quiet, but I will not. As a result of this I, personally lost someone who I did not know, but was going through the same thing that I am, being recently diagnosed and no insurance. Now that person felt
so uncomfortable here that she left. What was the purpose in this? Why did this have to happen in the first place. I don't get it.
If you would like to be my "friend" on this group and send me pictures of your dog, or tell me how your child makes a mess and won't clean up his room, great! Please, on this group, don't talk about your politics, your sexlife or lack of one, or the big one- your religious beliefs. I have my own, thank you.
To the DS Team- shame on you. That post should have never made it on the list.
If there is a subgroup for those of us who are LGBT or LGBT friendly I guess someone needs to direct me to such a group, preferably one who supports those of us who have Hepatitis C.

Great post and glad you spoke up. Anyone on this forum has enough issues without getting additional grief from any of us. This is a SUPPORT forum to help each other.
And, I also kissed a girl and liked it. So much I married her :)

I realize that 95% of you are straight here. I pretty much know how to live in a straight world and mind my P'S AND Q'S. 99% of my personal friends are straight.
I am on TX for HEP C which is why I came to this site. Off topic stuff is great.....but I'm on week 28 of a rough TX and don't need to log on and see Bible stuff....how I'm going to hell. Don't you people think we have heard it before? Don't you think we know that most will say they don't mind gay people yet we hear what you say when we aren't there? Ah I've about had it with DS and its lack of moderators. I'm having a horrible day working today feeling like crap and now shitty about myself. All of you who weren't targeted today don't know how this feels. What's next....Blacks, Jews...??? I think picking on Bi-polar people on here was last week. Ranting

I don't know what else to say. I made a srupid mistake. The person who originally took exception to my post is the same person who started yesterday's post.
This makes me so sad that I have hurt people when it was never, ever my intent. I can only apologize so many times.
I am really embarrassed.
When it happens to any of us it hurts...especially when we are stuggling with health issues...it wears us down and makes it more difficult to fight our recovery battles.
Everyday we unearth new bigotry...but it is most hardest for the one's who have fought it all their lives. Let us stay strong and unite by recognizing bigotry when we see it and support on another in truth, fairness, courage and love.
