Awesome visit. No viral load done as they are confident I am undie based on 4 week response of less than 15. Next vl done at EOT week 12 and then SVR4 and SVR12.
SVR12 is the one they put the importance on as that is when they start to see a few (not many) patients relapse.
Awesome comment. NO worries about varicies or ascites once done. (I am cirrhotic) Also I may get a call back when I have a future 6 month liver ultrasound .. DON'T WORRY ..it is most likely NOT HCC but actual liver cells regenerating ..YEEEHAAA!!!

So happy for you!

My doc never said there was a chance of relapse at 12 week, but he said I cannot celebrate until then. Waiting to exhale! :-)

Awesome! I am waiting for results of my 4 week post tx VL that was drawn on Monday. Hopefully SVR4 - then on to the BIGGIE- SVR12. (the test my doc uses takes 10 days at least to get back to him - ugh, but he's the doc)

I loved the comment about my future ongoing 6 month ab ultrasounds for HCC screening possibly coming back positive but not to worry as it is more likely brand new little liver nodules growing not a tumour!! Even for cirhhotics!

WG the chance of relapse is very small but they need to wait to week 12 to be confident. Week 4 is not "out of the woods" in their opinion.

Kramer, did you say your doctor told you that there would be no danger of ascites or varices after SVR-12, even though you are cirrotic? That's the first time I've heard that. I am almost finished with my 9th week, as you are, and I haven't had to be drained of fluid in over 8 weeks, whereas it was every 2 weeks or so before my treatments, but I'm still having to take diiuretics to help keep the fluid down.

Yes that is what I was told Marilyn. Now as you are transplant that may mean something different but for cirrhotics if the damage is stopped, there is little to no chance of developing varicies or ascites.
Liver regeneration is now being seen in some cirrhotic patients once the are virus free.
