In Canada they send them out in batches twice weekly. It's an expensive test so they wait until they have a quantity to start up the process. Mine can take from one to two weeks. They get results at the hospital on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Type of test is a factor - Quantatives take longer - mine takes at least two weeks. Qualitatives are shorter turn around. Also the lab "batches" them - so they don't just process one at a time. Depends on where your blood vials end up in the batch... and, like Triss said, when it's picked up from your lab to go out. Lots of factors.

My advice - don't hold your breath. It doesn't make the result come to you any more quickly. Patience.

It takes longer than a CBC.

I have had quantitative tests done at LabCorp in NJ. I test on Monday and my doc has the results on Friday. The only time it took a full week (Mon to Mon) was when July 4th came in between. Every lab is different.

Then it also depends if they post the results online, email them to you or if you have to wait to get the results from your doc. LabCorp posts all results online EXCEPT VL!

I get my VL results from Labcorp online - it just takes a while. Usually my nurse calls first - then they're online asap, so I think maybe at least here in AZ the doc's office has to have received them before they go online. Some states put no lab results online, so I'm thinking it's a state by state thing. Regardless, all of mine (all labs - VL and otherwise) have been on Labcorp's Beacon. The way it was explained to me was the "batching" is what adds extra time to mine along with it being a more complex test, longer to process. That makes sense since I am in a rural area, so "batches" take longer to "shape up', i.e., enough of them to send them forward, out of this lab to CA - then from CA back to AZ.

So mgf - ask your doc or nurse about the timeline for yours. They will know. No standard answer/time among all of us here.

Well I went yesterday and had blood work so will know soon what it is now my VL before started treatment was 4.6 Mil hope it has came way down the nurse told me yesterday that it soon be 0 now after taking Solvaldi we will see!
