I'm confussed!!! If you read my post yesterday I said I wasn't doing very well.Feeling like I did while on tx. So, I really wasn't feeling very good this morning and knew I wouldn't be able to work. I had no choice but to call in sick. Seeing as how I have to have a note for work I thought I could just call the nurse that I have been dealing with through out tx. I called her this morning and she told me that the drugs should be out of my system by now that it only takes about two weeks to start feeling better and she couldn't give me a note cause she is not treating me any longer. Told me to go to me MD. I am feeling rather stranded by my hep dr. and the nurse. i can't believe it only takes 2 weeks to feel "normal" again, Anybody have any comment, advice anything????

That is totally crap ...some lucky folks start to feel better soon but many many of us do not! I had Interferon/Riba "cooks" for months after I stopped. I felt like I was still injecting.
Be patient and try not to worry. for some of us it can take a very long time to "even out".
If you start to have any serious complications, see your Dr.

From the Pegasys site, I've cut and pasted the info below. And keep in mind that just because the drugs are out of your system does NOT mean your body has recovered from all the effects.


Once I stop treatment, how long will I have the medication in my system?On average, it takes about 1 month for PEGASYS to be eliminated from the body. Younger patients may be able to excrete it more rapidly, while those individuals with impaired kidney function may take longer to remove it. Ribavirin may be present up to 6 months after cessation of therapy, which is why pregnancy should be avoided for 6 months after the end of your treatment. Telaprevir stays in the body for approximately 2 days after you stop taking it.

Well Debbie from what I have read in the past 30 years that is TOTTALLY wrong. There has been MANY who I have read about who are still feeling some of the sides that they felt while on TX. I think you should find a real doctor or even hepatologist if you can. Sorry I know thats not what you wanted to hear but I believe it to be true. Course I could be the one wrong. Sense I was never allowed to take it cant say for myself really.

It's obvious the nurse has never been on tx. I think she might want to do her homework. Two weeks to get back to normal? No way.

Reminds me of my first "rock star" "A-hole" hep Dr. who told me "ahh don't believe all those people whining about Interferon. If you find you are having a hard time you can just quit" Freaking jerk didn't tell me it could take years to get over those "flu like symptoms".

I'm sorry you have to go through this stuff Deb. Maybe your pharmacy that supplied the meds would write you a note for work, stating that the sx can take months or years to go away.
I sometimes think the hep drs AND their staff should have to do treatment for a few months to really get to know what they're talking about, and how we would like to be treated & understood.

I felt no different after 2 weeks,took 4 weeks to really see a change,now 4 months later my aches and pains are going down...
