I would quote percentages from my doctor, but my memory is shot.
At 3 months post S&O tx, if you are still undetectable,
your odds are excellent that you will be clear at 6 months.
Even after that, for reasons unknown, a person can relapse.
But the chances are very small.
Someone here probably knows the percentages.
Congratulations again!!
Thank you Dr.s and nurses and Pharmas and Insurance Cos :)
So in answering your question - depends on your doctor as to when the word "cure" is used. However, they seems the majority are saying SVR12 is "cure" - and I doubt they use that term lightly. But yes, as Lev said, some percentage might relapse after that. I have no idea what the percentages are on that - we are the "front line" in this tx - we are supplying data, and we all are less than a year since start and completing tx. So the only percentages would be the very small number of folks who did the COSMOS trial, and I'm way past caring about this (lol).
BELIEVE you are cured!
I was in a state disbelief for a long time. Now I believe!
In your case, and all others that do 6 months of treatment, I would wait for the 6 months post to be sure.
Seems, 12 week regimes are mimicking the 12 week cure status and 6 month treatment duration might as well be 6 month post for official cure. You can always write back to your doctor and transplant team and ask them. Since it is all a new thing, perhaps they will take your case into account for others in the future!
Oh how the mind plays. I think 24 weeks post tx svr will make a believer out of me after this. Dec 6 tests shall tell.
Have a great Sunday evening to all.
I did SOV/Riva and geno 3a..
I think you are cured......Doc told me he likes to double-check....
but you have done great so far - try and let it go.....
