Could we possibly see "off label" treatment for Geno1 by the end of this year?
It may be possible as Simeprevir and Sofosbuvir are both at FDA for approval right now.

Soon this site will be nothing but old timers swapping stories about the horrors of past Treatments and OT good ole days.
If Dr.s can treat "off label" it's quite possible!
"Sime & Sofos" or should it be "Sofos & Sime?" Either way, these are way cool sounding abbreviated names for both of these drugs and like you Kramer, I'm hoping that the Insurance Companies & "the Big Kahunna" - Medicare will approve both for off-label use by the end of this year... And hopefully, convince the Canadian authorities to do the same in short order...
On the very close horizon, there's some very promising median data coming out of some trials designed for compensated cirrhotics especially the Vertex/BMS data that combines VX-135 & Daclatasvir...
And I know you're excited Kramer as should a few other folks in here with compensated Cirrhosis especially with the encouraging news of being well tolerated, (Similar news when Telaprevir was being tested and we all know how that turned out!) there were no serious adverse events and no patients discontinued due to adverse events.
However, It's better than having Interferon instead!

Boceprevir is a NS3/4 protease inhibitor
Simeprevir is a NS3/4 protease inhibitor
Personally, after my experience with NS3/4 protease inhibitors, I would not take Simeprevir due to the adverse reactions and my developed resistance to NS3/4 protease inhibitors.
Posting new info does help us to persevere. I sincerely hope that everyone waiting for successful treatment will be able to receive it soon.

Results for Lonestar, ION-1, ION-2 and the new ION-3 are not out yet so a cure remains to be seen.

Sime + Sofos - as soon as these pass FDA approval, I'm gonna contact my hep'tologist and beg for this! No riba, thank you. I'll take my chances w/out it. Hopeful my healthcare provider will pay for it (and my co-pay isn't much). Man, the train is movin' FAST now. You were right, Kramer!
