extremely inspiring! now abbott claims 99% as well. at best lot of confusing and conflicting reports. none the less on the right path. i would like to reiterate, seems gilead is a jump ahead of abbott as far as side effects and cure rate.

Okay, a stupid question - do you have to physically go to where these trials are being conducted? It's probably in all the verbiage somewhere, but does anyone have an "easy" answer?

I live in nw AZ - nowhere near the big southern cities of Tuscon and Phoenix. I live 100 miles from Las Vegas. If I were to try to get into one of these trials, do I have to find a trial location that is within reasonable driving distance for me? Do you go there and get started then go back home to do the tx and follow-up labs - stuff like that. I don't know how these things work, that's what I'm trying to say.

start calling the #s on the trials that you think may suit your needs then stay on top of it.

That is my understanding, Cat. You have to go to wherever the trial is being conducted weekly. I'm going through my regular hep doctor so I go to his office.

You cannot be in the trial if you have previously taken incivek, have varices or HE.

I checked into trials before I took incivek - I was told - you MUST be available at the trial site for blood draws and to pick up meds (I had hoped I could draw my blood at a local lab) was told the blood I'd proprietary and must be drawn there - and they might want blood drawn every hour for the first day or several times the first couple of weeks - so I decided to stay put and give the incivek a whirl

And as far as triple failures - it doesn't appear that anyone is interested in us - at least for the time being - if ever - bad because we would be the first to jump in - and maybe bad because the last thing any of us failures need or want to do is start developing a resistant strain just to determine "dosage levels" for research

Yeah...these Abbott results are indeed amazing.

catmagic- on my trial you had to be present. They wanted to do their own tests and using an outside lab would not have been acceptable. They also checked vitals each time, gave drugs/alcohol screenings and periodic physical exams.

Also, just to give you a head's up, one of the exclusions for my trial was psychiatric issues. They don't want to take a chance if they think someone's unpredictable and may flake out. I lied A LOT about my mental health, I lied about my psyche drug history. I told them I took AD's once after I lost a job and never admitted to being on and off multiple psyche drugs for decades. I presented myself as the model of stability with excellent mental health when nothing could be further from the truth. I'm happy I did. There is no way they would have accepted me if I knew a fraction of my history. I see it as lying to save my life.

Thank you, Kat. I would def. lie to try to save my life too. I actually got by one of my recent docs who grilled my on my psych. history. He had his radar up and was pushing, but I was trying SO hard to be accepted for triple tx. My husband was sitting right next to me while I was spinning my story, about to blow his top. He told me afterward that it was all he could do not to stop me and tell the doc everything. Doesn't matter anyway - that whole thing didn't pan out (clinic was closed). And I'm sure it's for the best - Interferon would not be a good thing for me; I just know it. So do some of you here ;).

Alas, no way will I be able to be at a trial site weekly unless one pops up in Vegas.

Sandy - how does that work for you - your hep doctor facilitating your trial? I'm asking because I'm wondering if mine could do that.

@ Katanda... omg i am about to see my hep doc in LA for the first time as i tranfered from florida to cali and my records show i have been taking aderol for ADD which i have for 6 months and xanex for aniety... what do i do... i sent only some of the lab work over to him but i dont know if i sent the cover page with my orinal history of that because i had my brother fax it to them so i could get the appointment. what should i do..? i talk with 3 different contacts for diff trials here in cali today and they are all in the works with my info but wont my new doc info end up in their hands? should i switch up the info? ..... honestly the aderol i could throw out cuz i am no longer working so i dont need it but the xanax... i havent even really taken it much until latley since i found out my diagnosis i have had more anxiety in the past 2 months then i have veer had in my life i need it!

@Maria, no octor in their right mind should give Adderall and Xanax. MIne did, well, Ritalin and xanax because I wanted it and knew what to ask for...but really, if you're on anphetamine/adderall/ritalin and need xanax to come down then you probably shouldn't take it. I got a ritalin script for a year, but basically abused it...

You should really know what has been sent to them and you can ask to see it. As far as xanax, just tell them that you got it when you were diagnosed with hcv and freaked out and hardly took it. Also, you can say the doc prescribed adderall because you had trouble concentrating (who doesn't?) and that you really didn't take much since it made it hard to sleep.

All I know is that if you have a history of psyche drugs it's best to downplay it to get accepted to a trial.
