And I really don't want a fight here and often abstain from commenting when people here tell others to 'run' to whatever trial is available. Trials can kill you. HCV can kill you. There are no easy answers.

I remember going to a meeting put on by SP back in 1998 and asking them the long term effects of Interferon............they replied......"We don't know, too early to tell"...............I wonder if they know now?????????

Don't know Bear but has anyone seen or heard a peep from Bago? I remember she had a mild heart attack right when she started the trial, but was determined to continue on......hope she's on a different one and is doing well..

@little bear- that's really not how I would have chosen to express it; I just didn't feel like another argument with the pro-pharma, big-business- can-do-no-wrong contingency so I used the most diplomatic terms I could muster.

That's not bagolady's trial. She's on SOC + GS-7977 12 weeks and some of us heard from her a couple of days ago...her dog ate her homework, um, I mean her computer charger but hopefully she's get it sorted out soon and be back online.

Agreed. I wouldn't personally run towards any new trials unless I had to medically. Time is what's needed to monitor effects over time and I'd much rather take meds that have been around for years rather than be guinea pig 0. There's much bad and good that can be said about PhRMA but a primary interest of pharmaceutical research is to create blockbuster drugs that can make windfall profits like Viagra. Some people love money more than good ethics though and that's when things in the lab can get even more complicated I would imagine.

As a side note, if I read about another person with a deadly virus, some random disease or a medical catastrophe that is without health care insurance I'm going to scream!!! :-O
