i'd like to know if cirrhosis continues to develop with no additives like alcahol or drugs. is having hep c enough for it to continue developing on its own? also, if cirrhosis is present, can tx still be done? does tx halt it? what else can be done about it? i have cirrhosis and wanna know if i should be pushing for an early appt to see the specialist. obviously, i wanna beat this thing if i can, but dont wanna jump up and down on the docs head unnecessarily. my appt with him is not until mid jan 2008. any advice/info would be appreciated.

No ? is silly.If it were me I would at least try to talk to your Dr. before your appointment.Make a list of ?'s and ask I think it might give you a peace of mind if any thing.Write down his answers to go back to later.I would bug them until you get answers,but thats just me.Tell them you want to come in if there is a cancaltion(miss spelled) hope this helps Nancy

Hi pepy whats happinin????? Well I know that one of my thousands of Doc visits during my 3rd round of TX my G.I.>P.A. Doc had allways told me that regauardless if your sober or not Chirrhosis still progresses in your Liver. What suprized me about his answer is that I allways thought when ya quit drinkin the chirrosis wouls stop too! But ya all know Im not the sharpest tool in the drawer. So thats what I was told my friend. At this point in time in my life, I dont belive much in fuckin P.A. Doctors anymore, There full of shit.

I AM STAGE 2. SO IT HAS NOT PROGRESSED AS FAR A YOURS, BUT NOT DRINKING AND STAYING HEALTHY STILL WILL HELP. IT MAY NOT STOP THE DAMAGE THAT HCV DOES BUT IT WILL HELP YOUR BODY ON OTHER WAYS. I WILL PRAY FOR YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU.

based on all your advice, methinks i will try and get a cancellation with the specialist rather than waiting til mid jan.

you can not reverse cirrhosis. But you can live with it, the liver is a rejuevator. It can repair if you quit damaging the good parts left, the veins. Portals, and other stuff in there lol. I think everyone needs to go to a Doc who specializes in Hep C. That's what I did, when he said tx I said I do it today. Do not eat out of an iron skillet or take Vits. with iron. The liver can not process it.

I have stage 4 cirrhosis and was told (for me) that it would do more harm than good for me to try Tx...so I'm not...and no doc would do it anyway. ..NOW i have heard of people doing Tx with cirrhosis but I don't know all the facts...so I'll just wait till I need to get on a list...and I'm okay with where I am at this point...I wish you the best...Janet
