I think this press release ties in with the recent news about Abbott's Real Time Geno Type testing.
Determining which geno type and subgroup out of all these is going to become a major challenge but necessary for effective treatment.

holy crap what if we have subtypes we don't know yet?

I always wondered to if new unknown illnesses are in our blood and transmitted .

seems this will just help REFINE treatments so more of us can achieve SVR. maybe unknown subtypes are the reason some tx haven't been succesful for some of us.

Good point RASS. Now I understand the Abbott press release about Real Time Geno testing. It is something new, more accurate it seems.

Forgive me if I sound slightly ignorant, I have geno 1a. Does this article now say, there could be others sub groups I "could possibly" have attched to the 'a' ?... That other sub groups might have been missed when I was Dx'd last August.. And more testing should be done? :(

You prolly can only get one at a time unless you're like a very rare Super Virus (said with an echo) holder is my guess. HIV is like that. The first strain is usually dominant and you generally don't get another.

Well maybe a combo meal. Hell I got that.
