A common complaint for those of us is chronic dry eyes. My Optometrist recommended this procedure and it helps me a lot!

Warm compresses may be applied over the eyelids as a treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction. They work by loosening up hardened oil that clogs the oil glands in the eyelids. For many people with chronic meibomian gland dysfunction, heat treatment is an effective 'maintenance' treatment.

I have had dry eyes for years. Had plugs twice, used Restasis, regular drops. Nothing works. Will try the compresses.

thanx Kramer I think I have dry eyes they get really irriitated and feel like I have sand in them never discussed with doc..I just thought it was from hcv/cirrhosis =just another symptom

The old SOC did a real number on my eyes, pigment changes in retina and partial loss of vision in right ey (which finally came back!).
My eyes were so dry on treatment four years ago and that nver really improved. I find this warm/hot facecloth to the eyes to soften the oil blocking the glands helps a lot.

Kramer - glad your vision improved. That sucks.

Mine is Sjogrens Syndrome -- another autoimmune "gift" (in addition to RA) I got from having HCV that has not gone away now that I am undetected. Dry eyes, dry mouth and other parts of my body including nose that gets really CRUSTY.

Some of the itchy and dryness could be allergies. The warm cloth would probably help that. Drops during the day and dry eye ointment at night works for me.

not sure you can ever get rid of floaters as they are just cellular debris floating in the gel BUT your mind will map them out and you will soon be just ignoring them. I only see mine if I close my eyes in sunlight

I see mine when I am outside, especially when I look at the sky, and sometimes when I am looking at the computer screen. It wouldn't bother me so much if it were just the floaters and not with the additional "background noise", black and white static with it.

Last time my eyes were checked (2009/10), I was only slightly nearsighted in the left eye, just as it was 15 years ago, though I feel it is getting worse.

Floaters come and go for me...sometimes annoying when you think there's a bug flying nearby! :-)

My vision is deteriorating. I have the "early stages" of cataracts and macular degeneration.

I finally adjusted to my floaters - took a few years...

I use "GenTeal Gel at night and GenTeal Gel Drops for Severe Dry Eye during the day. This has been a saving grace for me.

I now have the morning crusty crud, so will start the warm compress.

MY MOM TOLD ME WHEN I WAS YOUNG MY EYES WERE ALWAYS CRUSTY - ISN'T THAT WEIRD???

Makes you wonder - she had 6 kids and only me!!
