Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

Symptoms commonly reported by person with hepatitis c include:

Flu-like illness
Indigestion - gastrointestinal reflux disorder
Irritable Bowel syndrome
Muscle and joint pain
Night sweats
Depression, mood swings
Fatigue - mild to severe
Abdominal bloating
Diarrhea
Headaches
Numbness in extremities
Mental confusion / 'brain fog
Itchy skin
Dizziness & peripheral vision problems
Liver pain
Cognitive dysfunction
Shortness of Breath
Loss of appetite
Visual Changes
Chest Pains
Chills Fever
Facial Puffiness
Female Problems (irregular menses, severe PMS)
Palpitations
Yellowing of the Skin Jaundice
Loss of Libido
Spider Nevi
Swelling of the lymph nodes

Thanks, That is a great list. Some of these things I have had for years and the dr,s kept saying there was nothing wrong. They tried to put me on antidepressants and I felt worse. Of course I stopped taking them. I see my new Doc on wed. I guess I need to start all over again. The list is very helpful. Thanks

Check, check, check.... I can check yes to most of what you put up there. I must have hepc!!! Now why can't the doctors understand that??? My primary once told me "there are no symptoms to hepc" I said "tell that to my body".

i googled "hcv fatigue" the other day.would you believe the govt position is we are unmotivated, lazy, wont stay outta bed during the day, and probably ill with depression? oh yes, theres no such thing as upper rt quad pain either as there are no nerve endings in the liver. govt isnt about to come clean about their bunkassed vaccs infecting soldiers. pffft

I agree, check, check, and check...I'm glad my doctor decided to run tests and not tell me nothing was wrong. After 3 years of being undetectable, I still experience night sweats, depression, and fatigue. Just got my thyroid check as well as other blood tests. Everything normal. BUT I STILL DON'T FEEL NORMAL...I'm just at a loss.

there is only one thing on that list that i dont have and thats depression. i get the mood swings tho. lol

All of the above. The worst is the bloating and pain these days. Other days it varies.
I did not bloat much on TX b/c I did not eat!! LOL

I am nearing the end of my forty eight week treatment and it has been tough. On the other hand, I am undectable and have been since week eight.I do have cirrhosis moderate grade and that scares me a lot. Hang in there with your treatment, it's not easy at all,pray alot and cry alot... then get uo and embrace your life.Bless you alll.

Wow I can relate to most of this and a lot of your responses as well. I also had my primary care doctor telling me I was healthy and it could be related to stress, etc.

After being dianosed I had a doctor tell me that a lot of my symptoms weren't typical of Hep C.

This is all further proof of the ignorance that exists about this illness even in the medical community.

I had no symptoms that I can recall. But something told me to get tested I had to ask my doctor to do all the blood tests. Something just told me to get it done. And boy am I glad I did!

I do feel some of these symptoms now while on tx.

I've had this since birth, so I don't really know what it's like to live without hep c or tx. But like you, Nicole, I also had a weird "feeling" that led me to insist on closer monitoring by my GI. That's how I ended up in this study!

I can relate to all , except the ones that are female exclusive. jsbreath God Bless you as 6 months of this will be more than enough for me to fly the straight and narrow for the rest of my time here on Earth. I do not ever want to go through this hell we call TX ever again....
