Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I see alot of people getting confused . It makes it sound like a test to the layman ... It's just a definition of a time period of sustained viral response once you go undetected on a (HCV RNA test) ..Time periods very from each Geno type here's mine HCV RNA Detect/Quant Serum Lab Results

SVR is reached after treatment is completed. We are considered as close to "cured" as it gets when we reach SVR-12...which mean remaining undetected for 12 weeks after EOT - end of treatment.
I am currently SVR-4 and will test for SVR-12 on June 30.
SVR is Sustained Viral Response which means the viral response has been "sustained" after treatment has stopped.
WG is correct . The term does not come into play until four weeks after you take your last dose and finish.
Four weeks after you finish your treatment is SVR4
Twelve weeks after you finish your treatment is SVR12 (considered now as "cured")
