SVR q

Hey all-

Did triple Tx and have been SVR since 2012. I want to know if anyone else (SVR) has used Flonase spray and been fine? A doc prescribed it to me and have been using it for about a year.

I have been freaking out because a clinic doc told me it could bring back my hcv once SVR because it's a steroid. I know they're not a hep doc but I've been having an anxiety attack for days over the possibility that a nasa spray could reactivate something I fought so hard to get rid of.

Has anyone else taken Flonase, ect and their doc been ok with it?

It's a very small dose. I've never heard such a thing. Interferon changes our immune systems forever. I had a small bald spot that appeared as they did on tx years almost 2 years after I was done with tx. My Derm injected the area a couple of times with steroids to treat it. Apparently our immune systems attack our follicles among other areas. My system is strong though and cranking though according to my provider regarding HIV.

I wouldn't worry about Flonase personally at all.

Guess my concern is steroids weaken immune system and might cause relapse?

Has anyone else been ok'd to take Flonase or something similar?

Or has anyone taken low dose local steroids (non oral) and been fine post tx?

I would ask your gastro doc about it. I have never heard anything about steroids. I would think that dead viruses would stay dead unless a person really wasn't cured.

I know we are all "new" to this being "cured" or SVR - my
thoughts are if this virus is dead, isn't it dead?

Most docs that are not specialists do NOT know a lot.

Most of us might require surgery in the future with a lot of drugs needed and I just realized I am going to need the shots in my knees again soon.......Now that I am SVR, I do have questions.

Don't stress out - I hate when doctors that are not sure tell this type of information, not knowing how it will stress us out

STRESS is NOT good for the liver....
