To combat depression... Can you go for a short walk each morning or evening? Take a scenic drive? Watch the waves or sunset? Talk on the phone with friends? Treat yourself to some rental movies or HBO series? Any hcv support groups near you?
...The best help for me is helping others. Gets my mind of myself. Getting enough exercise raises endorphins and aids sleep.
Don't be too hard on yourself. Allow yourself to feel funky going through this powerful therapy. It is temporary, it will end, and you'll be free.

I would describe the feeling as out of the blue, finding myself in a very dark place not desiring any type of human interaction until it passed. Not was horrid but that is depression at its finest.
You must find things to keep you busy, you mind is the primary thing to keep busy. I too found exercise helped. For me, once I hit the halfway mark all the sides slowly subsided.
Having someone to talk to really helps but only if they too have battled either hep c or depression.
This forum is a great source to vent.
the thing i kept telling myself over and over again was that it was almost over. I only have so long i have to endure this. And let me tell you within a couple days of ending treatment the fog lifted and so did the darkness. I am already able to get out and walk and regaining more of my strength every day.
So i would say that is my advice to you. Just keep reminding yourself that "this too shall pass".
Good luck
Much of this recent bout of depression had a lot to do with 3 birthdates of the 3 most influential men of my life, who've all since passed on. Yesterday was the last of them (the 1st was my late-hubby's bday on same day I started Tx 5/17).
I definitely go for a walk every day I possibly can. I wish I could push myself to go a 2nd time in the evenings after dinner, but so far I just don't have the energy or will to push myself.
I have cut myself off from everyone, pretty much, on purpose - just too much stress coming at me from too many different avenues, and I'm in the midst of a major purging of too much stuff (not a hoarder by any stretch, I just moved & wasn't able to garage sale it away b4 moving 6 hours North from where I used to live). So, I don't know many people here and I now live in a very small place on the Coast in Southern Oregon with not much to do at all ... and my old state's tags expired, and haven't gotten the new State's tags in the mail yet, so I've been house-bound since last Wednesday.
It's all temporary and I did have a fairly good day yesterday doing my best to celebrate the life of the last man I'd trusted my heart to, whose 65th bday would've been yesterday, had he not passed away suddenly the day after my birthday in 2013.
I also have Complex PTSD going on, so I just let the feelings move thru me, cuz avoiding them did me no good for many years.
Again, thank you all so much.
Actually there were quite a few people alone.....I got my popcorn and what I wanted and the movie took my mind OFF Hep C.
That works for me.......I have severe anxiety and depression issues, so a good movie is great for me to get out of the house and put my mind someplace else.
Go for the Senior discount - makes the movie reasonable!!
Hang in there
The crying is something a great PTSD therapist I had for 3 1/2 years btwn Oct '09 & May '13 taught me to let the feelings come & ride them out, don't try to squelch them ... and it was heavy on me yesterday that I felt so utterly alone, irrelevant to life anymore, and the total devastation of just how alone I have positioned myself is complete.
I've been purging lots of old junk leading up to an annual garage sale here where I live on June 13th, cuz I must downsize ... so that adds to some of what's going on. Plus my new State's extended Trip Ticket (until the Tags arrive) expired on 18th & I don't really have extra $37 to get another 3 week trip ticket - but I'll pull it from somewhere today after the mail comes, if the tags are still not in there ... being housebound at times like this is not good for me at all.
And yes, I'm journaling all this, so much - both by hand and on documents in the 'puter here. Nice to get back to that rather than spend hours on TimeSuck (I mean FB)... hahah
Due to my ill health from the Hep C, I also cut myself off from most people as I couldn't do barely anything.
Once I completed treatment, I am trying and I have good days and bad days.....Hard to get back into life at age 61.
I saw a psych for years and then she moved too far. I also have issues from my childhood that will never go away.
Being housebound is bad for all of us and it takes a lot to "get out there"......
I pray you find your way and so glad to hear you are handling the Sov/riba so well - I had an awful time.
Before starting the treatments I've started seeing a counselor or Psychiatrist. While on treatment I usually went to see her every two weeks. It really helps to have someone that you can lean on in these situations. You can get things off your mind that you can not under normal circumstances. Other than that you should try to keep up with physical activity even if it's going for a walk around the block.
Good Luck. I hope things work out for you.
