type 2 is easier to clear then type 1...6 months isn't bad at all...it's the year that does you in! lol i'm type 1, did the year and i'm still undetectable at a year and a half post treatment.

the type 2's on here will probably write in tomrrow since it's late now.

I am geno 2b, stage 1, grade 1. Viral load at start of tx was 10,200,00. Undie at week 4. 8 more shots to go and I'm done. My doc told me Wednesday that we 2's that are rapid responders are 90% certain to attain SVR and stay that way. 90% - I can live with those odds.

I have a friend who is Genotype 3...also easier to clear than type 1 and like type 2, also requires 24 wk tx.. She completed tx around 8 yrs ago. She's still clear and doing great. In fact, a little over a yr ago she had a lap-band weight-loss surgery, and her dr told her that her liver looked perfect.

napadude......... I'm a 1a, and am doing 48 weeks, but......... Would like to reply to you on this topic. I dont know the statistics of how many geno 2's clear... but would like to say, 2's stand the best odds of clearing virus from blood, on a 24 week tx., and staying clear for years, and rest of life. It is the 1's that are the hardest to treat and beat the odds! I'd say you have a GOOD chance of achieving an SVR!!!!!

thanks Pattyannval those are exactly the stories I want to hear. I don't mind hearing all the horror stories of sides but I need to know the sides are worth the results.

I'm a 2, and will have my year after checkup next month. I 'll let you know.

I was still undetectable four months ago, and I'm pretty sure I still am.

My BFF, was 2, and still SVR one year later, and will get labs done in a few months.

We (geno 2) have a higher percentage of stopping the virus, than most. However, there are people that are geno 2, that don't clear the virus. It's just a risk we take.

I'm confused about this SVR issue - having only been diagnosed within the past two weeks and don't even know my genotype yet.

Can someone explain what a 0 SVR means - since they say there is no cure. Does the 0 SVR mean that you are not contagious or what???

sw........... SVR means "successful viral response" Simply means that the virus is not detectable in your blood stream. This DOES NOT mean you are CURED! Hep C IS NOT CURABLE! It is out of the blood stream, but will continue to live in little pockets of your liver. This is a life long virus that you will live with. After obtaining SVR, and staying SVR, it's then you have live liver friendly. Correct food, diets, no drugs, no booze. You will ALWAYS have to live a liver friendly life, after obtaining SVR. Hope this helps you some..........

My understanding of SVR is Sustained Viral Remission, might be wrong but the point is 0 detectable virus in the blood. As far as just being diagnosed, now would be the time to start doing your homework. The sooner you start tx the less damage to the liver. You need to have tests done for genotype and viral load, that will tell you what kind of tx are avail. This is a good site for info. I'm still new here (2 days) but have already gained support. SVR is sustained viral response. If you chose treatment I highly recommend you stay with this group. Nowhere else will you will find the knowledge, kindness and understanding that you do here.

I am 53 Geno Type 2 B and one month into treatment. I think for each it is a presonal decision. For me 6 months and add some recovery time after that is worth giving my liver a break and continueing life. So far my treatment has not been as bad as it could be. I am tired.

no way to ever predict that............ success rate is high for geno 2's tho and length of tx is shorter. there are many on here who are svr!

It's not a wrong choice or a right choice to make. It's your choice! We ALL GO INTO THIS knowing the odds. It was our choice to take the chance. Some win, some loose, but we are healthier liver wise for making the choice to add years to our lives. There is such a thing as o viral load, but doent mean we are cured! We live with it for the duration of our lives. We stand beside you in whatever decision you make.

At this point I've put my mind to taking the tx but I still have to see the psychiatrist before I can commit (or get committed L.O.L).
