Sulpha Intolerence

I have figured out why I have been feeling worse than most on tx. Once I finally decided to read the Galexos pamphlet provided to me by the pharmacist, it seems there is Sulpha in it!! Well, I have never been able to take sulpha! If I have to go to the hospital for any reason I always make sure I tell them I am allergic to sulpha. It isn't a real allergy but an intolerance to it. When it has been given to me in the past I would always make extremely sick. So rather than take any chances I would just say I had an allergy to it. I am 11 days into taking it and feel like crap. After reading about everyone here that has taking it and said they felt good I thought I must be crazy. It all makes sense to me now. I will continue to take it even though it makes me feel this way, because I know it will be worth it in the end. When I woke up this morning I couldn't get out of bed.|I tried but my body said no way!! So I had to take the day off work. I'm sure they are not to happy with me but, what am I to do? So I am now off to the dr to get yet another dr.'s note!!! No pay and $15.00 for a note sure does add up. Thanks for listening.

And even though they have allergies on your records everywhere in the medical center, you still gotta remind them. I'm highly allergic to iodine dye that's used in CT scans and lots of other procedures, but I still have to make sure every time that they don't use it.

So is Galexos the same as Olysio and do they both have sulpha?

I believe they are the same, TH (US & Canada names). But I would check with your doc or pharmacist if you also have an allergy or sensitivity to sulpha.

Not sure myself. The bottle paperwork everything jus says Galexos. Sorry I can't be more help.

I hate the way sulpha makes me feel - probably NOT as bad as you, but I no longer will use it for UTI's, etc.

Never thought it was used in the new Hep C meds.......

Wow - I have finished SOV/Riba and never read the ingredients at all, probably better that I didn't....my mind would develop an allergy.

Good luck - I know how it feels to pay those co-pays and call into work like that.....I don't think I could have worked if I had to, wonder what others did that do work?
