Haven't been here for a while. Two reasons, the last time I put a post up it seemed nobody was interested in what I had to say. So, I figured I overstayed my welcome here. The other reason and more important is because I am starting a new tx and didn't want to hear anything negative about it. Well, now I am a couple of weeks from starting it and need to know what the word is out there about it. I will be going on 12 week tx of Sofosburir & Simeprivir. Any one else been on it? If so what can you tell me? My Dr. claims it has a 98% clear rate and no sides. I am shocked that my insurance is picking up the tab but very grateful.

Yep I just finished it ... Toronto Western Liver Centre
Week 4 my VL was (less than) 15 IU and at week 12 I was non detectable. Won't go back until October for the all important SVR 12 VL test.
Good luck. I had an easy ride. Just remember to stay out of the sun and use SPF sunscreen as Simeprevir and sun can cause big problems in some folks.

Oh yes, I find it was best to take the pills on a full stomach.
VL testing is expensive and will have no bearing now if you should stay on or stop treatment. I suspect all these reasons are why you are not being tested along the way.
I had a brutal time on Interferon. These drugs were a walk in the park by comparison. Some insomnia and headache but nothing that would get in my way.
The considered "cured" is 12 weeks after taking your last pills, the SVR12.
Have a nice smooth short successful journey and don't be surprised if you start feeling better in the first few weeks,.
It is a very easy tx for MOST of us. Some get headaches. I did, but they were manageable with advil or imitrex. A LOT easier than Riba (which i was on!). 2 pills a day! That's it!

Dang, I would think your doc would want CBC and CMP labs done during the tx - maybe not VL, but for sure those so he AND you can not only see how it's working (bilirubin, platelet count and albumin say a lot PLUS the drops in AST and ALT) - but also to be sure it's not doing any harm. I'd ask him about that were I you - as least CBC and CMP every so often. I had those done every two weeks during tx, and wow, was it great to see those labs! I KNEW tx was doing its job. VL is the real story, and actually I can see waiting for 3 mo. after tx to do that, but JEEZ - I mean, maybe ONE VL at EOT?
Anyway, congrats on getting these drugs. Are you Geno 1a or 1b?

Keep faith. You're liver's still in pretty good shape, at least good enough that you will make it in plenty of time.
