I would suggest a nice long walk before bed, or something to tire yourself out . lol I am sure you can figure something out.
good luck
I had a horrible time on tx with insomnia; it was my worst side.
I hate pills and so I refused to even consider sleeping pills because I had taken some years ago and could not handle the muggy hangover effect from them.
Instead, after a few months of only naps, I elected for a very mild anti D which I took ONLY on work nites. On the weekends, I suffered on less sleep. I used many non medicinal methods.
No caffeine items for hours before you go to bed.
Quiet time activities are important; you will benefit from slowing down at the end of the day.
Reading makes me tired. Try things like reading, calming music, yoga, meditation, etc.
I know that exercise is not the best, but some forms can be helpful. Slow walks, and maybe even some swimming could work for you.

Valerian and kava are supposed to be very good, but you have to rule them out as they are too hard on the liver.
The site does have some other suggestions that you can try, and several may well work for you and others.

This site also mentions valerian but also melatonin is also a good try.
Do your research, then take your short list to your dr and get the OK to try some of them. With tx, you want to be sure that there will be no bad interactions as even natural products can be harmful.
I did find that several herbal teas were helpful to me.

I have several types of tea from this brand; Nighty Night and Echinacea Plus are two of my favorites.
Your tx will be much smoother if you can get some sleep and drink enough water.
And since you are in the same city as I am, you can't go wrong if you go to the small tea shop at St. Lawrence Market. If that lady does not have it, it can't be had.
best of luck to you for a smooth tx.
Good luck this time around!
God bless,
Rob
The echinacea and nighty night ones are very nice.
Also, you can try a detox one by Dr. Stuart's which also has milk thistle in it and spearmint and other herbs.
Also, Good Earth brand has a delightful green tea with lemongrass, available with or without caffeine.
I would try to pick up some individual bags of different kinds instead buying boxes of the teas.
That's how I got into the teas - I picked up a whole bunch of individual ones to try, then went back for boxes of the ones I liked.
If you like fruity teas, there are some assortment packs with some brands like celestial seasons.
Just don't toss the package until you know if you like the tea you are trying, or you will be picking the garbage for the package!
Sweet dreams.
