Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. i personally would not take INF. Actually I can't/ But I wouldn't even if i could. Not now when so many non-inf are coming on board within months. I MIGHT do Riba again, if the dose was kept under 1000mgs.
** Physicians must prescribe this regimen off label because the combination of Solvaldi, Olysio and ribavirin has not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Research of this drug regimen among those with genotype 1 has been promising
*** Preliminary data suggest this regimen may be less effective than the recommended regimen, particularly among those with cirrhosis
So the off label is less effective
For Genotype 1 that's the current recommended tx as far as I know. As more drugs come on board and get FDA approval I'm sure there will be better options. If I could afford to wait 6 months or a year, that is what I would do...otherwise, 12 weeks is a piece of cake compared to 48 weeks.
