Let's don't even start about their ridiculous pricing. Let's start with the fact that sofosbuvir/daclatasvir is still the best thing since 'sliced bread' when it comes to 'curing HepC' in the three most prominent genotypes without interferon or ribavirin. Gilead is now in Phase 2 of their SOF/GS-5816 (which they claim is as effective as daclatasvir in each of the top 3 genotypes). I was in the 12 week trial (GT3a) and got my SVR12 on Nov. 6th. Gilead is hoping and praying that every HCV patient out there will jump on this Sovaldi plus Ribavirin -/+ Interferon (depending on your genotype) because of the shortened time of treatment. My response to that "Is 12 weeks of poison better than 24 or 48?" I think NOT. Comrades, hold out, (if your liver condition allows) and soon you will be able to knock out this virus WITHOUT TOXIC INTERFERON OR RIBAVIRIN. Each and every drug company is now searching for the 'holy grail' (no INF...no RBV) that Gilead/Bristol developed over two damn years ago. "Build it and they will come". Otherwise, forget it... NO ONE wants to sell their SOUL (along with their house) for a treatment that doesn't even have 100% cure rate, but still only offers you the brutal addition of interferon and/or ribavirin.

I think NOT too - and I personally believe that geno 1a's need another DAA, not just Sovaldi. Just my opinion but based on quite a bit of research.

Guess what? My pharma provider is Express Scripts, and as of today, Sovaldi is NOT on their shelves! They are leading the new "price war" against Gilead and so far, they aren't stocking Sovaldi, not buying it, not selling it to patients. Since I'm a geno 1a, that's okay with me because I wouldn't fall for the new out of nowhere Gilead label "24 weeks of Sovaldi + Riba for Geno 1's" ruse anyway or even worse, for 12 weeks of Sovaldi, InterFEARON + Riba - but - for Geno 2's it's a damn shame if they have Express Scripts as their provider..

But back to your point, Gilead is out to grab every multi multi dollar order it can get ~ and damn the torpedoes (us), full speed ahead. I won't be one of them. I need to treat soon as a stage 3+, but right now, my sights are back on Abbvie. As a well compensated cirrhotic, I will just wait.
