For years, the conversation about Hep C was To treat or not? Was the brutal TX worth it for such a low success rate? And for the people doing it, support and advice. Now there's a low-side TX that works, and the whole issue seems to be money and insurance. I feel like I've gone from having a medical problem to having an insurance problem. And while I'm happy that so many are being cured, I'm also feeling angry and victimized in a way I never did before. Because before I often felt scared about not doing TX, but I knew it was my choice, and I could change that choice any time. Now my horrible new insurance co. has decided for me. And this insurance isn't cheap, either. I bought a platinum plan. And they suck. That's my vent.

I know how you feel, Brigid13. Although by the time I knew I had Hep C, I had already developed Cirrhosis. I didn't know I had it (for 30 years) so I didn't really have the choice of treating or not, but it has taken six months to finally get approval for treatment. I'm not sure how many appeals you've done, but my third one was the one that was finally approved for Sovaldi/Olyisio combo but my Cirrhosis was a factor in that, so having it is a blessing and a curse because one day I may need a transplant if new medications for Cirrhosis aren't created. Most insurance will approve the Sovaldi/Riba combo. My doctor was going to prescribe that combo next. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that you will receive the treatment you need.....

Well said. Im in the same boat right now. I just received my first denial from insurance. The most frustrating part is the denial was because the dr office never sent them what they needed. They dropped the ball. ugh!

So Brigid, are you still not being approved for treatments? You didn't say if you have been prescribed and then denied, or what. Or if you have stated that earlier, I missed it. Anyway, I hope you get the treatment you need if you are not already. Marilyn

jaro, I'm so glad, after so many months, that you have finally been approved for Sovaldi/Olysio. It's a shame Dr. G. had to appeal so many times.

if obamacare concept doesnt work out or needs radical transformation , its still a great idea to get medicine digitized and force insurers to operate on a lower profit . some insurers wont hang -- GOOD .. parasites anyway ..

I also know how you feel - I am angry just having to be on this stuff for 24 weeks and everyone else gets only 12 weeks.

You feel left out - follow up with Gilead as many did get meds free from Gilead and my Doc asked me if I needed help that way.

My approval took 3 months - later I realized there was a lot of correspondence back and forth from my doc and insurance company.
They have so many people, make sure you check and follow through.
