Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
The other new but less new is solvadi with XXX - Solvaldi can't be taken alone. It is taken with olysio or ribavirin..,,maybe others? It can be for 12 weeks or 24 weeks.
Don't know which one they are planning for you, your geno type, treatment history, degree of liver damage.
I forgot how my muscles would burn and ache and I ran a mild fever most mornings or evenings. Always tired, stomach hard, bloating - the list is endless.
Yes, I had Fibromyalgia, mild RA, I could continue a very, very long list.
My dry eye syndrome is gone!! My muscles don't hurt nonstop anymore. I had the virus for 25+ years and was starting to really feel the effects. Some of it I never connected it to the Hep C.
Now the time for treatment is so short for most (12 weeks) - I can't imagine NOT doing the treatment. The main reason: Once your liver starts giving you trouble, it will regenerate - but depends on
how far along you are....
Again, I am NOT a doctor or anything...
NOT sorry at all I did new treatment - did 2 previous attempts with old horrible treatments and could not finish.
I have dental implants (but mine were done in 1987 (one of the 1st guinea pigs for those) mine were/are wonderful.....Wish I could afford to do more.
Good luck with your decisions.
However I would ask myself if I were you.......what do I have to lose, to try it ?
meaning, if something you cannot handle , happens.....you have the option to stop it.
I am not at all saying any of us should go into it with the thought of quitting if we want.
How can I explain what I mean , without making it sound that way? For me, it is more of a bandaid , for my fears.....
the thought of, and worry about, what the tx will be like , kept me from doing it for way too long. So , I tell myself these things as a way to kind of trick myself into being brave.
once I begin tx, though, I have committed to go all the way.
I do feel like crap, so far but then again, I felt like crap b4 tx started !
btw, I am on Sovaldi & Ribavirin for 2 weeks now..I think some of the crappy feeling is subsiding a tad ,. ...we are all different anyway and respond to side effects from person to person, differently.
people talk about feeling anxious...I am not feeling tht, from it. I am weak and tired.
I was watching a commercial on tv last night for Harvoni...and it had text on the screen about "no ribavirin"
I thought ,wow that is amazing.
but if I have figured this out correctly, I THINK it depends on your genotype, etc, which kind of tx would be prescribed for you.
also if you are seriously considerng, depending on your insurance, sometimes it takes awhile for the tx to be approved.
I was told there would be a time frame of denial/appeal/denile/appeal, but with me it was approved immediately.
about the side effects , one last comment...it is supposed to be hardest the first 2 weeks...from what I hear.
so instead of worrying about side effects for 12 weeks, you might want to do a mind blow trick like i do, and think of it as only 2 weeks for side effects.
it is not as scary as I imagined but it is a darn good thing I did not try the older treatments !
Those are the ones that really kicked butt ! You can do this....It is totally up to you but you can do it.
Peace ~
