Sex between monogamous heterosexuals rarely source of hepatitis C infection.
May I add that as a gay man I have had two long term same sex relationships (over ten years each) and transmission has never occurred either. Safer sex was not practised in either as we were/are monogamous.

I think when one partner is diagnosed it is natural for there to be some worry with the other partner. If for no other reason than you never know if you came in contact with the others blood.
As a Newbie to the virus, it was that way with us and since we have insurance, it was crazy for her not to be tested. We were not concerned but got the results back today. NEGATIVE!!!

I will add that this past weekend, we made love for the first time since I was diagnosed and it was unprotected and we will continue that course. It also help me tremendously. I felt loved, I felt sanitary. Helped emmensely with my mental well being.

ClayB my partner and I both have our own Dr.s and we have both been advised that there is very low risk for transmission. We are both checked for all STDs and he for HCV every year.
We do not practise safer sex but are not into anything that would be considered high risk, pretty "vanilla" in the bedroom.
I totally "get' what you are saying about intimacy and not feeling like a pariah in the bedroom.It is so unnecessary.
I do respect others wishing to be overly cautious. It is a very personal decision but like all decisions it should be based on facts and not fears.

I insisted my ex get tested, and he was negative also. He was negative in other areas too, but that's for another post.

I totally agree with Kramer.

As i said on another post I was married 18 years had 3 kids and then had a 10- year relationship all before being diagnosed. So no condoms were ever used. I very likely had HCV long before all of that and no one ever got it form me!
