Like You Lonewolf, I was scared to death, and a part of that was having to tell my partner. Especially with the chance I had infected her too. This was due to my own guilt and codependence, but as it happened, she was amazing about it, and not infected, which was miraculous. Those we love and who love us will surprise us often as not. There should be no shame in this disease, I think the human race is beyond that. To be sober is a HUGE part of it all, and if you are working a program, especially a 12 Step program, this is also a huge bonus for you.I too have been sober several years now, and when I asked my Hep Doc before starting Tx what I should and should not do, the first thing he told me was not to take drugs or drink alcohol. No worries there! The greatest news of all is that this thing is very curable now, and the side effects of the drugs are nothing like they used to be. Harvoni has a success rate in the 90% range, so you have much for which to be grateful. Find a good Hep doc and they should steer you thru the insurance acceptance jungle. Some companies are more wary of accepting new patients now unless the disease has progressed further, but that seems to vary. If at first you don't succeed, there are other routes to pursue, and people here will help guide that process. One step at a time my friend, it will come good!

The drugs out today are so much better on the body than a few years ago. Less time on them and less side effects. Mostly the side effects are tiredness,dry skin. The ribavarin plays hell with depression but I am on Harvoni and I have no side effects. Good luck, but relax . You are on the good end treating it.

I'm done with xanax. I have one more week to go with the weaning. I went from four milligrams a day sometimes 8 and I would numb out. Now I am careful because I don't want another seizure. I hate booze so by sober I mean no more self medicating, no more causual usage just tough Funny thing is have my head clear and I can focus on more than one task now with ease, as its been done before I bounced back to reality quickly took the risk and on thangiving spent my first on nothing. Not even an antidepressant, and I was really on my best behavior. I go i minded my pes and q's and went home. Shew part one of the hollidays craze ova.

I just got done telling my partner and he threatened to sue me. I said I don't have anything you want poser. He stoped and laughed, then its been supportive, i just need my friends right now. But I was honest right off the bat, I was devistated, but I won't lie. He knew I was getting the tests,and when I went through it i went over my own program the steps it takes to stay clean. The breathing. lol LIttle things haven't been a bother. I have support with my family I know Ill tell mom somethow even if my sister tells them it may be easier to do so i dont cause any more grief.

It is what it is. I know most of us got it through a poor decision. I have forgiven myself for mine and been forgiven by those that matter. I have been clean for almost 33 years(celebrate on Jan1) and that's one of the beauties of being clean.(4th and 5th step) With the new drugs and the length of tx it is sweet! when I treated it was triple for 24 - 48 weeks, it sucked! But I got very strong through it! I made it through prayer and support from folks here.

I won't even go into what I have done and the pain I caused in the past.
I have definitely made up for it the last 25 years or longer.

I can't help the fact that I had Hep C - I did beat it and I have to slowly get my body back to good health. Some of us are more damaged than others (whole body, not just the liver).

There is hope, and this summer I was on Cloud 9. Having a little setback, but keeping my head up.

Thanks so much for your replies. I have a few days to wait with the Jersey bustle things tend to take a few days. I was asulted and I am sure it is from that. I have no history of iv drug use. I awlays knew if I did I would be done with life. Staying clean through the most difficult time I've ever had is my top most prioirity and gathering support where I never had before is really helping. Telling my sister was hard but I told her I hadn't told mom n dad cause I don't want them to worry. I did hint I was being tested for liver functioning. I have a positive attitude and my parnter is supportive and surprisingly so. He has congenative heart failure, we are waiting for his insurance to kick in. He has tons of money and shouldnt have issues getting treatment. If I made poor decisions before I certianly am making up for it now. I'm scared a little less because the cure rate is phenominal. I'm doing anything and everything positive I cna think of not to self destruct. Building some coping skills. Bearing down for a storm yet to come. I feel gracious to have the freinds and family I have left, to show them not a smuck I been cleaning my act, my place, my head. Doing what some people suggest in support groups. And then I just breathe. Deeply breath with anxiety so I out of control while I wait, I been playing music, and i dunno what to do.

ok next i have some rather difficult questions I need to know like medication interaction. SO I will get all my treating docs on the same page. It took three days just to do that. Pushing my insurance to the max allready iwth diabeties supplies, getting that under control after yrs of neglect, has me wondering. What poor decision did I make in this world to just about not want to go totally insane. I always thought my biggest trigger to become mental again would be this. This waiting anticipating is killing me. I looked for lab results online, phoned the Dr about paxil causing liver damage. To wean off my antidepressant paxil if i need to. I questioned the pharmacy about insurance, and harvoni treatment to prepare for the upper gi my sis is droping off the paperwork, I found out my insurance may require prior auth but other than that I should be accepted. Too bad for me everything in Jersey takes three damn days, damn Christy ****(&)*(& Little Devils. Keep yas posted. Don't get me started.. hehe And I am hanging in one day a time. I refuse to spend my life dying in it. One day at a time.
