What a tragedy, but I personally can totally relate to it as I felt suicidal a few times while on this treatment. I was put on Prozac before starting treatment and three months into treatment I started getting mentally, as well as physically torn up. My mental perception became distorted and I started getting severely depressed. I told my doctor what was going on and she was going to change to medications and I told her not to bother as I felt there was nothing that was going to help me as long as I was on this treatment.

BIG MISTAKE! These medications are very powerful!

I lived alone and I started to isolate myself more and more, and as I did this I continued to decline. The last three months I was able to work on a part-time basis and although that was very difficult I felt I had no choice. I couldnt have laid around 24/7 and gone through this treatment.

About four months into treatment the Vice President of our department came into my office and told me that we was worried about me working and that maybe I needed to take the next couple of months off because I looked so frail and sick. I told him I had two choices, continue to work or get off the medications.

My mistake in all of thiswas not trying some other anti-depressant while on treatment and continuing to try different medications if they didnt work.
Personally, I dont think the Doctors; at least my doctor had a clue what I mentally having to go through on this treatment. Although I would tell her, she would just say after most visits, How try to find something to laugh about today.

You cant underestimate the power of these medications and the effects they can have on some of us. Please seek help if youre feeling like your going to do something to yourself, or youre mentally feeling like youre going crazy. This can be a normal reaction to these types of medications and there is help available. .

This is a sad story with a horrific end. I hope Dawns' family will find strength in knowing that Dawn was loved and appreciated here.

I truly hope that we all are here for support. I believe we supported Dawn. I believe Dawn knew that. Depression is an awful thing. We all get depressed, but when it gets into our minds and we can not shake it it seems like are eyes and ears shut. I feel like I should have listened more or saw a sign, but I ( WE ) all did what we can do. I just pray for eternal life, and peace for her family. God Bless This Group and The People That Care. She wasn't suicidal from the treatment drugs. She had been depressed for a long time. If you read her journal you'll see. She talks about having a lifelong battle with depression and alcohol and drugs!
if you have depression as a side when chosing treatment...you can take antidepressant meds that do not compromise the liver. Dawn had a multitude of demons. She just gave up on life and it is very sad. my heart goes out to all her freinds and family. Peace and Love, Serenity55

I am so sorry to hear of the news . My prayers ore with Dawn's family. I had suicidial thoughts also while on the meds and I leaned on God as My Light his light never goes out.
