my doc put in scripts for solva/simprevir/riba I went thru hell the last time with the intef/riba. I am feeling a lil scared, but hey I guess if I have been dealing with joint pain weakness that gets so bad most times I cant pick up my pots and pans to cook, or go up stairs due to muscle or joint aches.. I guess I can go thru the riba sides for a while...

Riba is tough, depending on the dose, but INF is far worse, from my understanding. I've been on Riba but never on INF.

Riba sides depend a great deal on the dose. Do you know how much you will be taking? Shouldn't take a high dose in combo with those two other drugs. 600-800 mgs/day is very tolerable. 1200 mgs can cause anemia and other side effects. Also, how long will you be treating?

@WarriorGal she wants me to take 600mgs twice a day total 1200mgs.
man!! we have texted each other will be seeing her in person, I just got ct scan back, no cancer but cirrhosis getting worse so I got nervous and wasn't thinking, did not ask questions(big mistake) will do so in person...and she already submitted the scripts. because I had agreed to tx she worked really fast. submitted them before I cld blink...

1200 gives you lots of wiggle room for dose reduction if you get anemic.

I think IFN is far worse than the riba but all my 57 wks of tx were with both. The 2nd tx contained Incivek as well which added it's own torture of side effects to the cocktail. My worst side effect from the riba was insomnia & anemia. It was weird to be so tired but unable to sleep. I took the last dose of riba earlier in the evening to try & minimize the insomnia. I noticed I had trouble breathing around wk 2 & 3 of both txs. I was severely anemic & needed to give myself shots of Neupogen (rescue meds) for the duration. That causes the bone marrow to produce blood cells which caused bone pain in my case. I attributed the hair loss, nausea & flu-like sx to IFN.

If I could've gotten the meds your doc is prescribing I'd do that with no hesitation. By the time the riba really starts building up in your system you will be nearing the end of tx. Remember to drink a lot of water with these meds which will help reduce side effects. Good luck!!

Good luck Clovers ! I agree with WG. Take the recommended dose of Riba to start, then once you're Undie maybe reduce the dose a little perhaps (check with doc first of course).

I have done the soc - both riba & inf. My dr said to me that the combination of those two may have made the sides worse.
He's trying to ease my trepidation over riba & solvaldi impending treatment
As said above - riba dose can be lowered.
I will start with the recommended dose. I'm not going to wait for it to send me to the under taker before asking for a reduction in dose LOL not this time!
Also, he said if not undie by 4weeks, we stop. Reviewing my old journals & labs, by week 6 the riba (or both) had kicked my butt.

You will be supprised at how easy ribbi is to deal with without inf. First time I did tx with inf and ribbi was hell. This time ribbi and sovaldi really easy. It's just a whole different ball game now. My hair hair has gotten thicker on this new tx. Good luck peace

I am doing 1200 Riba and the SOV - geno 3a

The Riba is not as hard as in past (I only did 800mg in past).
Interfeuron was the killer.

Now my hemoglobin is dropping on week 3, so had to go for another lab test (will see Doc today, wonder if he will drop dosage).

If I keep the water up BIG TIME 6 full 16 oz bottles of water a day and
I take the Riba, 1/2 to 1 hour apart (not 3 at once) - easier to handle.

My enzymes are only 2 points above normal at week 2, shocking!!
I ALSO DID NOT KNOW I WOULD HAVE TO DO RIBA, PLUS I HAVE TO DO 6 MONTHS - FOUND AFTER MEDS ORDERED,
BUT I AM STICKING WITH IT AS I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER ALREADY!!
