When I was on Riba in trial i was given 100 SPF sun screen. never knew it came higher than 50 SPF.

i also discovered there is SPF clothing online.

Have you been experiencing sun sensitivity Kramer? I have not had any issue with it, but i have been much better wearing sunblock, normally I dont use any. Hope its going great for you, I still cant believe I am even in a treatment, I am praying its working!

spf 50 for me and sun hat, and so far, so good, but the other day at my son's baseball game i could not get any decent shade and I nearly got ill and almost had tolie down. It wasn't the heat (it was around 75 degrees) it was the sun on my skin. My skin was on fire! No redness or burn at all, but the burning sensation was unreal, I thought for sure I was going to be blistered. This sun protection thing is kind of tough in Florida...

The sun is unhealthy and so is sunscreen.

Mineral s unscreens are much safer than chemical ones (though they can leave a white film on your skin.) Skin Deep website lists all the brands, from safest to most toxic

You know folks it's all about risk management. I will gladly use sunscreen for a few weeks if it prevents me from developing a very serious and a potential treatment interrupting rash.
I usually do not use sunscreen or spend hours baking in the sun.
Sometime you just gotta step outside one's comfort zone to prevent real and serious situations from arising.
If you are on drugs that can lave you photosensitive, you can either lock yourself in the basement or take steps to guard your health.

Hunter, I have never really felt comfortable using sunscreen, so thanks for this info. I live in the desert, so it's hard to avoid sun - but what I do is dress as close to an ARAB as I can.... light, loose, breathable clothing that covers ALL my skin possible. I've been known to wear gloves in the highest heat of our brutal summers. I drape light scarves over my head and face. I have TRIED to find this kind of clothing online - like people in the MidEast wear - but can't find it so I do my best with what I can find. I mean, those people have been around for many centuries in the broiling desert heat/sun, so they know best how to protect themselves. I have no idea why men in the states wear JEANS all summer - erghhh. I wear LOOSE long skirts or loose long dresses, lightweight COTTON long pants, lightweight shirts too big for me so lots of air gets in and through . I am cooler and safer doing that than if I wore short sleeve tight t-shirts or shorts, etc.

Brigid - yes, I am sure there are "good" sunscreens - but in the desert one really needs to COVER UP their skin - the sun is constant and wicked. What am I doing here?
