Good question. I've read a 12-wk course of Olysio runs approx. US $60,000. Cost estimates I've seen put the off-label combo retail cost at about $130,000-$160,000. Mind boggling prices for sure!

So I did the math and it would be:
$64,000.00 (Sime)
$84,000.00 (Solv)
Total $148,000 for 12 weeks off label tx
I have a 20% copay so that is $29,600.00 (good thing it's not 24 weeks!! lol
I hope to get some copay assistance from the pharmas.

IMK, glad you are savvy enough to be hunting down pharm help with co pay. Dang, that's a high price tag.

Kramer - both of these pharm cos have vowed t leave no one beehind. They offer co-pay assistance (max $5 for Sof and max $25for Sim) AND for those with no ins they will provide the drug for free.

I would call them both and ask if their coupons will work in Canada and what assistance they are offering for Canadian citizens.

Thanks RASS I have already been told at the hospital they will give me help applying to Gilead and Jannsen. First I have to hear back from the hospital. I called them lst week and told them I had arranged coverage with the Insurance company and was then told to hang tight until they can get back to me .It's a very busy clinic. I'll give it a week and then reach out again.

On The Doctors they said in the USA it would cost $186,000.00 for this txt...but outside the USA it would cost $2,000.00 because we do not regulate the pharmaceutical companies. They also said with so many people about to find out that they have HCV that it will cause a Tsunami of people trying to get txt and there will not be enough. Only the very sick will be allowed to get the txt.

alil over 22,000 a 28 day supply of olysio with savadi is aprox 52k for 28 days supply is what my insurance bill said

They told me if for any reason my insurance will not pay, and I have exhausted all appeal attempts, then they will pick up coverage, all I have to do is apply. So basically they are saying everyone will be treated.

Hi Kramer. Like you I'm waiting for PAP approval and I'm glad to see WarriorGal's post that the pharmas are committed to helping with costs. Not sure if you're aware of this but you can obtain the applications online for both Olysio and Sovaldi patient assistance so you don't have to wait on the hospital. If you print and fill out your portion then take the apps to your doctors office it might expedite the process instead of waiting to hear back from them. Good luck to you and best wishes for both of us for speedy approval.

Thanks Sarah. I finally got tired of waiting for the nurse at the liver clinic to call me so I called her. She's sending me the Jannsen (Olysio/Galexos in Canada)and Gilead applications on hospital letterhead to fill out and send into them.
In Canada you cannot contact the pharmas directly for the copay assistance program until you have been registered by the hospital with them.
This should do the trick!
