Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I don't know if any of you remember the poems I posted awhile back by Rynn Williams. One was definitely about HVC; the other one was that or HIV. I just read tonight that she killed herself. (Early reports of her death said "an accident". )The article was about someone trying to make sense of her choice, but the ex-husband who tried to explain it never mentioned the stress of living with this illness. Even though I never met her, I feel sad. Her book showed a lot of talent.
I am going to leave the city tonight,
the handball courts and the Gemini Diner,

the penthouse, the Rawhide, the banks of elevators,
I want to forget the route of the C train,
the smell of the tracks when you jump down
to cross them, I want to fall asleep
and not dream of multitudes, I want to forget
that on West Fourth and Hudson my friend
held his forehead together with his hands,
I am going to abandon my FDNY cap
on top of a hydrant in alphabet city,
my Lucite stilettos on a shrine in the Bronx,
I want nothing but horizontal lines
so I dont have to get on my knees in the intersection,
I am going to pick up my body and move it
to a town where the streets are perfectly logical,
I am going to drive east on the LIE
until the only rumble is in the pit of my stomach,
I am going to shred all my take-out menus,
I am going to eat dinner at six oclock,
I am going to be a loser and love it
get in my car and drive east to the ocean,
until I cant stand the silence
and have to come home.
I didn't find anything conclusive indicating suicide by I just google
briefly.
She writes about my city that I know so well. Reminder, I work in one of the locations mentioned in the poem you posted....

BTW, when she died she wa s living in a 1.5 million dollar home. So it wasn't about money. She left three young children.
