Kramer...does this open the door for Dr's to approve Tx with S&O or not yet ....just exposure and possitive trial results? Maybe make it easier to pick up the pen ehhhh?

TH - FDA approval of the use of S&O will blow the doors wide open for doctors to write scripts for it. That's what matters - not the trial results (although FDA looks at those). So this "announcement" just shows us that trial results are in.. and makes FDA approval more likely. My doc used them (COSMOS results) already in prescribing S&O for me - but other docs aren't so quick to prescribe off-label tx.

Docs had/have their reasons for not writing scripts for off-label for some patients - some docs want to see yes, the real life experience of tx with those two meds as OFF LABEL tx with only a relatively small trial group. Well, a bunch of us are providing that! Others believe that the patient's insurance won't pay for them and don't try. Others, who knows? Some docs don't even know about Sovaldi!!!! Each doc will have his/her reason for not going for S&O if they don't. Heck, some still think that Interferon in necessary - old school thinking, and FDA DID approve Sovaldi/Interferon/Riba.

This is why we must try to see a doctor who is up to speed on new treatments and will go to the wall for us on appeals if necessary. I logged in many miles on airlines, shuttles, a bus once (never again), and driving to end up with my doc. in Phoenix - with whom I am most pleased.

WORTH IT! SVR12 labs coming up next week.

Short story is no, these trial results will not sway any of those docs who for whatever reason were not prescribing S/O - what they are waiting for is FDA approval, most likely, but by then Sovaldi/Led in on pill will be out or almost out.

thanks all, that is what I thought , that my NP wanted to give me script but Dr won't cause it wasn't FDA approved...that was the big issue

it seems that I heard that Ledispevir will not be handed out so easily and that only serious cases will be cherry picked as one Dr said....oh my the roller coaster....

Remember too - with S/O the script is actually the easiest thing to get. The hard part comes with getting your insurance to pay for it. I got approved during a small window at the beginning of this year when the insurance companies hadn't realized yet how many of us would be flooding the doors of doctors' offices for S/O.

Two of my cats look like the one in the avie. If that avie inspires you to give a kitty a home, great! Do it! You know how great they are - easier than dogs to take care of. I remember what sadly happened to the one you had. I love our dogs, but those two gray boys have my heart completely.

So exciting that these 2 drugs are on their way to be approved as a combo, and not off-label . It was hard to get for those of us who were fortunate to get on the drugs already. I'm praying every day for the ones who are still waiting to be treated, that God will cover them with His grace and get them treated ASAP.

OHHHHH I almost got in the car and went to shelter...I have to go to Cal. for a birthday party for grandaughter in Sept..and don't know what to do with a cat then as I stay for 10 days...I don't know anyone here...blah blah blah I am going....just to look I love that gray cat...lucky you...two!!

If not now, maybe when you get back in Sept. Yes, I love the grays - these are my first, and yes, TWO! They just turned 11 - sniff. They're in great health, so I hope to have many more PURRfect years with them. I could never live without a cat in my life and home. No matter what hubs says, I WILL get another when these two go on to kitty heaven. Next time probably an older cat though - they really need homes - most people adopt kittens.

There are so many out there waiting for good homes, which many never get. So sad. When you get back from CALI, maybe that's the time to "go look" because whenever you DO look, you will want to take one home and have a hard time walking away without him or her - you know that, right?
