I have pretty severe RSL. I've been taking Gabapentin, but it's not working as well as it did in the past and makes me a big groggy in the morning. I don't want to double up on it, and other medicines haven't worked at all for me.

So I've done a bunch of research, and many people swear by putting a bar of soap in the bed. http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2012/07/22/why-does-soap-soothe-nighttime-leg-cramps/

So I tried it, and my wife couldn't stop laughing at me. She knows that I have a very skeptical mind, and if there's no science behind it, I usually won't believe it. She's much more open to stuff like this than I am, so she found it very funny that I was willing to try it.

But pain is a motivator, and after not being able to sleep for several nights, I thought "why not." It can't hurt and doesn't cost anything to try.

The funniest thing is that it does seem to help. I'm not sure why, and I don't really care at this point. I just want to sleep.

Have any of you tried this, or do you swear by any other crazy home remedies?

Try marijuana. It is all over the Internet. As you know if drug companies cant make money on it it will not going to be advertised. Buy a small amount and see what happens. People try everything, but everyone swears to something else.But mj does make sense. It is relaxes the muscles. Opens the blood flow. I am not a user, but i have smoked it with the Incivek. No shame to try it , what ever takes to stop the issue.

I have RLS too, I found stretching before bed helps tons! a good long walk after dinner helps too! eat more veggies (raw is possible) and try to minimize processed foods. Really has a profound effect on your body! I ride my horse bareback, but not everyone can do that, tires my legs out. Try walking or stretching or both. Shitty situation though! My friend had it and tried something, but IO can't remember what, I will ask and get back to you!

It's nuts, ain't it? There's no scientific explanation that I can come up with to explain why it works. Maybe it's just a placebo effect. But who cares!

I woke up at 5 AM today and thought "well, it's not working anymore." But then I realized I had kicked it onto the floor in the middle of the night.

You got to try some liquid soap.Spread a thin layer on the bed sheet. You cant kick that off. I bet it works even better. Wonder if it is brand oriented? I vote for Dove.
