I'm happy too. It was a real nail biter in Canada TWICE with Quebec referendum, wanting to leave. IMHO the yes side with voting with their hearts and the no side with their heads.
Montreal used to be Canada's premier financial hub but because of the unrest, most businesses moved HO to Toronto.
The other positive thing is that many more concessions will be made for Scotland as they were for Quebec.
Many will be disappointing but I am happy. Our Quebec separatists have been watching closely.

I hope Scotland enjoyed all the media attention they received. I did.

whatta i know ? i think the scots want to distance themselves from the uk ' s policy of destroying their old world heritage with ghettos full of low brow immigrants . that western europe would have areas so violent as to be called no go zones is sick compared to the europe i served in in the late 70 ' s . germany was so safe that i often visited the party districts all by myself . never feared for my safety . more recently a stone mine owner visited germany to check out some new sawing equiptment and had to have a quite expensive hells angels escort from the beginning to end of his trip . europe isnt going to stand for this shit , shes going to boil over yet again .,.

Hey Capt. I am not so sure what you mean with the comment about England having a policy of destroying their old world heritage with ghettos of low-brow immigrants? The immigrant populations that moved to the UK in the 50s and 60s, mostly Indians, Pakistanis, West Indians, some East Africans, usually worked hard and took advantage of their changed circumstances. The communities they live in are hardly 'ghettos', they just choose to live surrounded by people who share their same cultural upbringing, but integration has been moving along. That is not to say that it has all been easy for them, but mostly they have been accepted and welcomed. The problems you speak about have mostly been caused by later 'waves' of immigration as Europe has increased in size and allowed more freedom of movement and job hunting. Inevitably, there are people who are desperate, and amongst them there are a great many younger single males with just not enough jobs to go round. End result? Increase in crime. This is happening across Europe. Nothing to do with England turning her back on Old World Heritage. Much as in the southern US, the borders are very porous, and there are hundreds of thousands of people from all over the old world who would love to get into Europe. In the Mediterranean for instance, thousands of people are drowning every year in overloaded boats from N Africa trying to make it across. As long as you have places that are perceived to be better off than their neighbors, those on the other side of the fence will try to get in to share. Sadly, in the UK and elsewhere in the EU, we are seeing political parties growing that espouse fascist ideals dressed up to look like innocent 'for our own benefit' movements...
