My name is Mckenzie, both my hubby and I have been diagnosed with hep c, years ago, both did treatment, and both cleared the virus.
This site has been refered to me by a friend, I have met online a few years ago, when I was on tx.
Treatment is no bed of roses, but doable.
My hubby did treatment first, cause we figured he had the virus longer than I, he had no fibrosis or damage to his liver, and is feeling great now.
I on the other hand, had fibrosis, scarring, stage 1, grade 1, and being both genotype 1a, we did the 48 weeks treatment.
I also have been cleared of the virus for almost 3 years now, but still having problem with other organs since doing these nuclear drugs.
A few months after finishing tx, I had a large tumor on my right vocal cord, which would explain
having no voice for the last 6 months of tx.
Fortunately, the tumor was removed, and there was no cancer and my voice came back pretty normal.
My Asthma is worst than ever, and just finished a pneumonia, which I didn't even realize I had, but knew my lungs were shutting down on me.
According to lung x-rays, and ultrasound, there a film on my lungs, and the ultrasound showed fibrosis and scarring, and I'm afraid the damage is continuing to my liver, even though I no longer have hep c.
I need to go for another x-ray in mid february and will know if the film on my lungs is gone or not, and will take it from there.
As for the results of my ultrasound, I will asked my PCP to send them to my liver doctor, maybe they will send me for another biopsy.
Both my hubby and I have not drank alcohol in years, so if the damage is continuing I don't know what is doing this damage.
I just wanted to introduce myself, and am very happy to have found this great place.

ps: those starting treatment, don't forget drink lots of water and listen to your body, if you need to nap go ahead take the time to rest. Good luck to you all.

I don't know if I am new or old. I know I feel old a lot lately due to my symptoms. As far as being a member where do you draw the line? Then I can tell ya. Not that is really matters. You can be new and have more knowledge than someone on longer but doesn't check in to learn. I think it is about sharing experiences not how long you have been on.

I remember one of my old tx buddy kepted bugging me, come and see this site, it's great, bla, bla bla, I had just been put on sick leave november 11, 2006.
Man did I need to come back online, after working like a fool, enough to get burnt out.
Today my friend has moved on, but I'm still here. lol
