Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Does anyone know of a company that would give me life insurance? Seems no one wants to cover me because I had a liver transplant and I had Hep C. My Hep C is gone now after Tx but do I need to wait longer to get life insurance? Seems the insurance company seem to think people like us are a liability or something. Can't understand that if we have a new liver and the virus is gone now.

It will be like "cancer" - they might put a "survival rate, or 10 year thing on this"
If you get insurance, pay attention to fine print....Many will return premium if you die from Hep C related, or pay only what you have paid into "these policies advertised on TV"....
Hate to be the bearer of this news - but we plan on getting "burial plan thru Funeral Home" and this covers everything (no matter cremation, whatever) at today's prices and grave, etc.
Just buried my MIL this way and she took it out in 1998 and it paid
for everything..
If you need for surviving loved ones, just be cautious as they will rate you HIGH - I know I am blessed to have policies I took out when I was in my 20's , but I was in that field.
For Hubby, I got one of those TV ad ones, and the fine print was unreal, - be careful!!
Insurance companies are leery of us "being cured" too - just like cancer survivors....Sorry....

I wanted to avoid ALL funeral and burial costs - and be kind to the planet etc - by donating my bod to medical or forensic science. But HCV squashed that, too!
I am NOT pushing this, just stating what happened with us.
My brother donated his body to Science and guess what: I got hit
with a $1500 transportation fee to go pick up his body and bring it to the place he donated it to. If you are thinking of doing this, SOME places pay for transport. They did pay for cremation and ashes to be sent to me.
I didn't know about the HCV and donation to Science - makes sense, but what about the people that don't know they have it??
Just finished burying too many people, the costs are outrageous and something needs to be done in advance (even planning alone) to help our loved ones out when they will be in a state of grief.
