Nausea and Hep C

Is it possible to have nausea as the ONLY symptom of Hep c? My liver shows no damage at all-no fibrosis, all enzyme levels are and have been normal. The only abnormal thing is this nausea which I have EVERY day and have had for the past 5 months.

Have you been diagnosed hcv?
For many years, I experienced a sense of nausea. It didn't seem to be related any particular cause. It could have been hcv. I don't know. Once I was diagnosed & began to learn the variety of body systems affected & symptoms, I realized that most of my obscure complaints were probably due to hcv.

Uhm maybe want to see your Dr. about that. Nausea can be a symptom of HCV damage to the GI tract but if you have little to no fibrosis I'm not really sure. As always best to get it checked out by a medical person.

Yes, I was diagnosed back in 2006. I do have IBS, hiatal hernia, gastritis, and gastroparesis.

Ah well from my lay perspective you have lots of already Dx explanations for nausea. Sorry about your other GI conditions but happy your liver is relatively intact.

My nausea is an everyday thing for the past 5 months. Reglan does help here and there but I won't take it more than 12 wks. cause of the side effects. (TD). I have Zofran but that is just a quick fix 3 times a day. What do they usually prescribe for hep c nausea??

There is not specific Rx for "HCV" nausea that I know of. There is just a general degradation of body systems over many years from chronic HCV infection but as far as I know the nausea associated with that is due to declining liver function and reduced bile flow etc from fibrotic obstructions.
Those of us with cirrhosis are familiar with that. As you liver is in pretty good shape and I would assume performing well, I would think your nausea might be from one of your already Dx conditions. All that being said, we are all just lay persons here and good for support. As I suggested before it's best to see your Dr. for Dx and advice on how to deal with your symptoms.
