Procrit didn't do anything for me. I had to reduce riba, then my dr cut it out completely for 10 days. My hemo had gone down to 7. After cutting out the riba, and being off incivek for a couple of wks, hemo came up to 9, then I had a pint of blood right away too, and it came up to 10.4. Back on 4 pills/day of riba and hgb (hemoglobin) is at 10.2.
I will stay on reduced riba for the rest of tx. Had to cut pegasys too, from low wbc.
I just looked over my labs, and it doesn't look like they are testing for low (or high) thyroid in my comprehensive metabolic panel lbs.
Perhaps I should have my Thyroid tested, with my regular PCP,if this is being over-looked by my Tx Doctor? I know Tx does cause permanent thyroid problems sometimes~
hyperthyroid can also cause anxiety and hypothyroid (low) can cause depression...and also losing more precious hair, which is also temporary once you're back in the target range.
I have a CBC tomorrow, so we'll see where I'm at then. As the day wears on, and more pills are taken, I go downhill. My doc said that once the Incevik is done, that he'll probably raise my Riba up another 200 mgs but that's it. That puts me up to 600 per day and he said that seems to be the magic number. I just started week 8 and so that means less than 5 weeks left of the Incevik. I can't wait to start the last box!
Also, my doc is keeping a very close eye on my thiroid. Every other CBC has a TSH test as well.
most dr's don't tell you this, but you're supposed to fast before your tsh. When I was going to my endocrinologist for this, he said to definately fast. That's kind of hard when your doing incivek, but you could have it done right before your w 2nd 'fat fest' of the day.
See if you see a tsh test on any of your lab repts.
I will ask on tuesday. Today I am having alot of difficulty breathing, and very little understanding, from my family.
I think it is mainly the Victrelis causing the anemia, so I dont really understand why reducing Riba would help.
CassyKate, fyi I finished the 40 weeks UNDIE, and am now 12 weeks post going for my first viral load tomorrow
