Gout is "usually" in small joints like great toe or finger and "usually" systemic, not unilateral. It is usually hot, red, swollen. That being said IFN plays havoc on our joints (I am still somewhat crippled from it four years later).
I would suggest you get to your Dr and ask about it, perhaps a blood test for RF (rheumatoid factor) and a physical assessment of your knee

Kramer is on to something.......I have a high RA factor, either from past interfeuron or the Hep C.

My tops of knees, the muscles are so tight and hurt so badly - it is unreal........I do get shots in my knees for the pain (different knee pain).

I feel very old a lot - Hubby older than me, but my body has taken a huge toll from the past treatments and the disease itself.

As I am finding out these past 2 weeks as I too just finished (but no interfeuron this time), my pain if off the charts - it has me baffled.....Pain set in later - not right away.

Makes me wonder, what the heck did I do to myself now?

Doesn't hurt to test. RA is a possibility...but GENERALLY RA also starts with small joints in the hands.and feet and is GENERALLY bi-lateral.

Other possibilities are that you could have injured your knee or have OA, Osteoarthritis which happens to us all to one degree or another with age.. In addition to blood work for RA your doc may order x-frays.

You may want to see a rheumatologist who can inject the knee with various txs available now. Good luck.

I had joint pain for years and doctors all shrugged and said it wasn't arthritis at that time. Hindsight it was symptom of HCV. It increased dramatically during treatment and is the one side that has remained. Headed yo the rheumatologist on Thursday. Hopefully we can pinpoint cause and not treat symptoms.

It never happened while I was on treatment for 12 weeks it started about a month after treatment I never have had knee problems before
might have to get it checked out before long if it keeps up!
