Hepatitis C Support Group

The more I read about the link between sugars/high fructose corn syrup, the more I am convinced that they are nothing but poison!
Should have said "the link between sugars/high fructose corn syrup and health issues such as diabetes, NASH, heart disease"... that more I am convinced that they are nothing but poison!
Unfortunately, on numerous occasions here, someone who is NOT my fan, followed my posts advocating "sugars, high fructose corn syrup" etc, so in frustration I gave up.
For some or all of the 90 days (12 wks) of Incivek triple therapy tx, consuming whatever one can tolerate is crucial and of paramount importance to a successful triple tx/ and or outcome.
It is nearly impossible (IMO and recent experience with Incivek) and from numerous posts of other tx'ers here on DS, to ingest all the daily fat grams that are required. Keeping any foods/fat down, as well as keeping the meds in our body is a huge challenge. It's Far more difficult than most folks can comprehend or even imagine if they have not done Incivek tx. I do not believe any of us knew what a test of willpower and strength it would be.
When one cannot eat, and must do so specifically, managing with whatever one can is the only option. If healthy eating is possible, Yes, go for it! That's always the better way. If not, do what you can. Eating anything is the key. EVOO and small pieces of bread became a staple for me at dinner.... Avocado at lunch, almond butter for breakfast, Etc. Healthy fats and sugars ARE best. I did eat a bunch of junk and the options changed daily. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, my enzymes have been perfect for the first time in 30 years since wk 4.
On week 13, day 1; I agree, it's health all the way, and fat and sugars are the last thing ( including EVOO) that has been mentioned by many to be desired, as almost with disgust and disdain; by both the brain and body. This let up a bit for me around weeks16-17.
I believe it is best to ingest foods in alkaline/acid balance/ low sugars for premium overall health and organ conditioning or reconditioning. Ratios of 70/30% 75/25% 80/20% are optimal.
Pure 100% Stevia Leaf (sweetleaf brand) is a great sugar substitute to use as well.
Cutting slack for heppers "while on Incivek" gives the room to attempt treatment and provides a sense of ease and flexibility ( or for some, not) to tolerate an almost intolerable, yet relatively short time (90 days) on triple therapy. Flexibility and openmindedness help. The odd combos of foods are surprisingly funny at times. But they work.
90 days does totally feel like forever and a day, an eternity and a lifetime all rolled into one. The treatment then is only 50% complete. Yikes. It's rough, and it's as doable as one can manage to survive thru it.
I believe it is important to learn about our disease and do appreciate the dietary toxicity suggestions you post here, Kat; as well as other subjects/ links you have introduced. Caring for our entire body, especially the brain and the liver are so important, and is often completely overlooked, even in good health. Keeping us heppers informed helps us. Thanks from a fellow hepper.
Respectfully,
Jibi
I must admit I haven't read your entire post. I skimmed it quickly and noticed that you mentioned my name a couple of times and wrote "Healthy fats and sugars ARE best.".
IIRC you've mentioned that on "'your' diet on tx you gained 35 or 55 lbs. I have no issue with YOU eating sugar and junk food. I just didn't appreciate you have contradiced prior posts of mine linked to scientific articles by recommending sugar, HFCS, etc.
You are obviously free to post whatever you l like but I have a request I've posted to you in the past that I'd like to reiterate:
"Why do you keep thanking me? I'm not looking for a fight and I'm trying hard not to respond to you but you keep bringing up my name. What is your motivation?
It's clear to anyone who's been here for more than a week that you have disdain for me. You've claimed to have put me on ignore, you've encouraged others to do so, you've referred recently to my posts as 'katcrap' and you've you've boasted about having reported to me ds. I'd bet you reported me so many times that DS put you on 'ignore' ...hahaha.
We couldn't be more different intellectually, morally, philosophically... so again I ask, why not just let me be? Why do you keep singling me out and mentioning my name? "
We all do not have to like each other, thankfully here on DS, it's principles not personalities, as we all do get the opportunity to post on all threads as this is a public forum.
Good health to you!
If there is friction between members here it might be good to be respectful and not address them directly. Keep the peace.
Thank you and keep up the good posts everyone!
Interferon fog...I know you know about that...=)
My post was and is on point.
PLEASE put me on ignore if disinterested in what I post.
Last year at this time, We used to go off on tangents and not stay on topic, all the time; just to lighten it up,
Who has the recipe for watermelon salad? Remember that? Lol
Thank you ImK for your continued informative reporting. It helps everyone.
There's a bright side after all!
