I've never discussed a liver transplant with a doctor for my HCV or any other liver problem but my X husband has been evaluated by two transplant centers for a transplant due to cirrhosis. I do know that a person has to be totally drug free of opiates such as pain meds and of marihuana for 6 mos. prior to the transplant. It doesn't matter if the drugs are being prescribed by a doctor --a transplant hopeful cannot be on these drugs. He has been denied a transplant by both centers for using this class of drugs and he refuses to give 'em up, even for a transplant that could save his life.

I just met someone that is getting me in touch with a lady that had a liver transplant and recovered well then went on treatment for the hep c and had it put in remission. When I get to talk to her personally I will share what she has to say. It is so nice to hear stories like hers. Gives us hope.
